Message to Scouts, no more freeloading on the backs of taxpayers.

Like you can talk.

Just when you think FCPS can’t get any trashier…

Why should FCPS pay for the extra staffing required to host outside organizations?

When I was a Girl Scout leader 15 years ago, we met at 2 different churches over the years for no charge. We completely cleaned up after ourselves and left no extra trash.

Once a year we did a service project for the church like planting landscaping near the entrance, or deep scrubbing all the nursery toys.

I am not religious and the only remote religious thing we did was teach the GS promise which has the word God, but it can be replaced or not said.

My scout parents were so strapped, they would ask if they could pay the $12 yearly registration in 2 payments. There is no way we could have paid a rental fee all year.

Hopefully these troops can find churches to meet at for no charge. As GS, we have very little funding except for cookie sale profits, which was 50cents per box. I personally bought all supplies for our activities and considered it my charity for the year.

-You're an ignorant dipshit with no kids. Scouts/ Girls Scouts is one of the only self funded after school programs to engage children after class is over. These groups are for the betterment of the community. If you think otherwise, it just means you have not actually had any interaction with these groups at all.

They are not 'freeloading' at all, they are maximizing taxpayer dollars economically.

-Signed all of us.

Are you serious? There are loads of self funded after school programs that engage children. This is the land of the extra curricular activity. They all exist for the betterment of our children and the community. And other than Scouts, if any of them want to use FCPS facilities, they pay for it.

But they don't. Any class after school befoee 5 pm is likely not paying for use of the classroom space. Just fees to pay the instructor and materials.
