Talk to your relatives and friends with kids in public schools elsewhere. MCPS is pretty amazing in comparison.

Its amazing for you, not for everyone. Let me guess you are in a W school zone and get everything which comes at the sacrifice of our kids.

The Three Stooges (Jamie Raskin, Marc Elrich, Evan Glass) managed to turn this county into the modern day Weimar Republic. This honestly sounds familiar to what was happening in Germany over a 100 years ago

Grew up in the area, so lots of family nearby. Our kids went from MCPS to private during Covid times, after seeing how poorly managed MCPS was when it comes to upper management (teachers were great though). Watch many BoE meetings online back then and it was clear the level of incompetence at central office and BOE.

We'll move out once our kids are off in college, and by that time most of the family in the area will have moved on (or passed away).

I plan to sell my business in a few years and retire. My plan is to move to a state with 0 income tax during the year of the sale, so I don't have to pay MD income tax on the windfall. Expected savings is $500k-1mln, due to MD's high tax rates. Spouse is on-board with it -- I'll make the move solo and visit every few weeks. I just need to live in the other state for 6 months+1 day to claim residency there (along with registering to vote, registering car, and stuff like that of course)

It’s weird how much some of you hate it here, but don’t move. There are other school districts that would allow you a similar commute if you are working in the DMV. But I guess…whatever.

The achievement gap always existed because standards of K-12 education in America has sucked balls for past several decades, and people get by only because of their accent or skin color.

I actually like MoCo. MCPS may be better than many school systems. But, if you think that without your intervention your kid can get a world-class education in MCPS? Nope.

Yes. It did. Thankfully, our family is pretty close knit. Also, kids are out of MCPS, out of college and in good careers with high barrier to entry and not easily replaceable by AI.

This is such a ridiculous statement you are just telling on yourself. I don't think for a minute you know anything about the Weimar Republic, but leaving that aside I'd really be curious what you think a Congressman (and a lone member of the council) did to reshape the county. Not sure if the federal/state/county structure of government exists wherever you are posting from but you might want to bone up on it before trolling some more.

No more tax increases. We pay federal, state, county, taxes on all the goods, services and food, as well as car, gas, Medicare, etc.

I spend a fortune on my own kids, I don't need to subsidize yours. And, I certainly don't want to for someone living a higher standard than we do. We don't have a nice house, in an area you wouldn't live in, never vacation, etc...so we can pay for those things.

And, these small businesses often cannot afford it either.

Single households shouldn't have to subsitize because you choose to have kids.

So...no publicly supported endeavors that don't accrue well to every taxpayer?
