Just so incredibly stupid not to name the school already. It’s not helpful otherwise. |
Very few can ED. |
7 top schools is only “a few?” |
Why? Because you were a dick. Play nice and get nice. BTW my kids were higher as well but I would never say what you did. The OP should be very proud of their child and has legit questions because they are a big gray zone with T10 competitive academics but possible to get a T30 shutout. It’s very stressful as you must be aware. |
These posters obviously can. You can tell because they all participated in very expensive ECs. |
Bryan Mayr could definitely be preferred over UNC. |
We visited. Yes, it's a very good school. |
Wow, this is sobering. Is he in the honors college at penn state? |
Actually, at the T20 level they can. Do the NPC at these schools. They are accessible for most middle class families. |
MCPS 2024, 3.98/4.5, 1540
Accepted w/merit: UNC, UMD, Ohio State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan |
Our CCO could never approve a college list like this. Very head heavy, no ED, no EA. T15-T40 schools are completely missing from the list. It's either super reach or safeties. |
If you're okay with the school's net price calculator result, you can ED. If you're not okay with it, RD is unlikely to work for you at that school either. |
Point is the uncertainty, to look at the denials and waitlists for a high stats kid. The single top school acceptance involved a stroke of luck. |
Same for my MCPS kid. UMD is covering full tuition with merit scholarship. + 2k a year for 4 years for NMS. Undergrad in double major - CS being one. 3 fabulous internships in 3 years. Has banked 50k of his earned money in investments and retirement. We cover all costs except tuition, which frankly costs us peanuts in college costs. Hardly any expenses for travel (except for leisure), no commissary costs because he raids our Costco cupboard, still on our medical insurance going to the same doctors since his childhood. The cost savings of going to instate flagship is immense. College savings got converted to Roth for him. Also we were able to spring for a brand new sedan for him. |
What merit does UNC give to an OOS student beyond the Morehead? Bullshit |
