Perfect for the people with IBS!

Wait, so you're planning to arrive at 9pm (if you're not delayed by traffic), unload your car, get settled in, and then cook? Are you sure this is what you want to do?

I would pack something in the cooler and eat it on the way. It's one meal, convenience is worth it on this day!

Each person should get a sandwich and grapes as you travel there. Once you arrive, they can eat a bowl of cereal or a brownie. Done.

We go on vacation. We just don't cook on vacation...because it's vacation! Lol!

It’s a vacation, there will be lots of junk food eaten, don’t worry, since many of you seem consumed with that concern. Which is why when it is easy, I’d like to plan ahead for healthier options. In this case it is easy to do so, and I simply asked for ideas for what to pack, not for fast food options nor edicts to eat earlier. Thank you to those who provided suggestions, I’ll be using one of them.

Maybe if you had mentioned the IBS in the OP people would have different responses. But you acted like a weirdo who wants to cook dinner at 10 PM because they don’t want to get to their destination 30 minutes later and used lasagna as an example of bad for you food. Most families even with teens do not eat at 9 PM/10 PM. And by the way, IBF is not triggered by “bad food, it’s different for each person.

Why did I need to mention IBS? In my original post, I said I didn’t want to stop to eat along the drive, and asked for suggestions for healthy meals to pack that we could eat when we get to our destination. If you didn’t have a suggestion, then I’m not sure why you even replied to my post. I certainly didn’t need posters telling me I should stop along the drive, of course I know I could do that.

And not sure why I keep feeling the need to explain myself to you, but since it is a vacation, and I know there will be some junky eating, I’d rather save the junky eating for good stuff like our favorite beach donuts or fried shrimp than McDonalds along the drive down. We try to eat healthy or at least healthish so as to reduce IBS flares (along with general gut health). And yes, we usually eat at 8:30, our kids don’t even get home from sports practices until around then. So it won’t be any big deal to eat at 9:30.

Sheesh.

- OP

A lot of foods that people consider "healthy" are triggers for IBS. What are your kid's food tolerances/intolerances?

cooking on vacation is even harder than cooking at home because you don’t even have all of your stuff. I truly do not understand why people do this to themselves on vacation. And I have never seen a thread where someone makes such a simple thing so complicated. “I don’t want to stop just 3 hours into our 6 hour drive to eat” um why???? She said she is leaving at 3 to drive 6 hours so yeah 3-4 hours in would break up the drive in half and you eat dinner without having to pack your car with stuff to make at 9/10pm upon arrival. She said there is nothing good during the last hour of the drive-but there are 5 hours before that. Just weird. And I truly believe the IBS stuff was just added to CHA because it everyone was giving her a hard time with how ridiculous this all is.

Actually i think most of us go on vacation plenty, which is why everyone thinks she is being ridiculous.

Didn't you listen sweaty? On a 6 hour, multi-hundred-mile drive there's not a single good option. Not one solitary decent restaurant in multiple states. It's like the Nullarbor out there, just endless miles of nothing. NEXT!
