The extremism of Shi'a nutcases in Tehran and the breathtakingly stupid decisions of Palestinians - who are not Shi'a, but aligned with Tehran anyway - are really a marvel of how not to to do things. Palestinian statesmanship has been a disaster for 80 years. They could have had a great country many decades ago. But Palestinians always make the stupidest decisions possible. And why they do that is mystifying. They are the doctors and lawyers of the Middle East. They're not idiots. And yet here we are.

Until Palestinians revolt against Hamas and Fatah, I don't see how anything is possible. Palestinians have no meaningful support among anyone anymore. No one wants them because of all the difficulties and violence they've caused in Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait and so on. Palestinian refugees are literally the last people on Earth you want in your own country because they always go to terror and violence.

For a smart people, Palestinians are really the dumbest people on Earth. And no one knows how to deal with them.

Where does the settler movement fit into your analysis of this problem? I’m no expert but I read that the seizure of Palestinian land for settlers started in the 1960s and there are now about 500,000 settlers. If it has been going on for 60 years, then clearly it’s official Israeli government policy. Are there any statistics for how many Palestinians have been killed by settlers?

Maybe those stats are kept with the figures around the numbers of Israelis killed by Palestinian terrorists and Arab aggressors which precipitated the settler movement into land seized after the defeat of Jordan in the Six-Day War.

If you want to play tit-for-tat, the volume of Palestinian atrocities won't make them look like the innocents you like to portray them as.

I guess with the justification of eradicating terrorists, the British could’ve just gone in and started massacring civilians in Ireland after they he bombings in Hyde Park, Brighton, Birmingham and Warrington. I suppose the US roundly condemned the Irish people for supporting the IRA though.

Exactly. Change has to come from the Palestinians themselves; the surrounding Arab states and Israel are not going to suddenly forgive and forget the last 80 years of Palestinian terror and dependence on welfare. But, the pro-terror apologists have nothing to propose, just ranting and vilification - to them, the Palestinian situation is the fault of Israel, of the U.S., of the moderate Arab states, or of anyone and everyone but themselves, despite all evidence to the contrary.

It does. But it cannot come from the already-radicalized successors to Hamas. It has to come from Palestinians who genuinely want a break from the past, and to end the cycles of violence and anger and hate and back-and-forth blame, and take an entirely new and different path forward.

Exactly. Falling back on the failed Palestinian policies of the last 80 years will achieve the same tragic and counterproductive results as always, not positive change for the better. The question is whether there are enough visionary Palestinians interested in peace and prosperity who are motivated to move in that direction.
