This sort of moral equivalence is so tiresome. For all our problems (and I agree with you that we are on that path), we are not Iran or anywhere close to it. Demanding that the US cure itself of all its ills before defending itself on the world stage will insure there is no America left to perfect/improve.

More Americans, by a wide margin, are against this war than for it, so if the felon strikes, what does that tell you?

Sending you strength, OP, as you watch your homeland suffer. I agree with everything you said, but still... it must be very hard for the Iranian diaspora, and even more so for your relatives on the ground.

I don't think any rational people disagree with you, but most of us are VERY worried about the potential for dirty bombs, regime change and the chaos and pain it can bring on millions of Iranians and neighboring populations. Please don't discount that risk. It happened in many countries around the world, including ones you are no doubt familiar with in the Middle East.

Persian culture is a beautiful one. I hope Iran becomes a progressive country once again!

Progressive for its time and compared to now, during the White Revolution. That's what I meant. When women were allowed in public in shorts and blouses, no headscarves. I am aware that this was still an authoritarian regime, the excesses of which led to the Islamic Revolution.

I don’t claim to speak for all Iranian people. Just myself and many of those I am in contact with. My people are entangled in chaos and violence either way. At least intervention would have a productive purpose.

Deciphering your intentions would be so much easier for others if you had mentioned that at the jump.

I mean, I’m sure most people caught on immediately, but for others, you need to be a little more explicit.

Well, Israel has been crying about Iran being close to nuclear ability since 2012 or 2015 or something. I think it was 2018 they were gonna have it in a couple wks! They were talking about it and then the next thing you know, it's a pre-emptive strike. Sorry but I question what shadiness is going on that Trump made a deal about with Israel because it's not about nuclear weapons.

Netanyahu stood on a podium in the middle of Congress and said Iran was “days or weeks away” from a bomb. This was 2015.

Again, TO AMERICANS. Amongst themselves, Iranians do not typically refer to themselves as Persians. There is no real equivalent word in Farsi.

Not true - married to a Persian/iranian and he and my children call themselves Iranian mostly. Sometimes we use Persian.

It is a complicated situation. Terrible regime, but also Netanyahu is controversial to say the least. Even if there were an attempt to depose the current regime - what happens next? Seeing Pahlavi’s comments and wondering how he thinks it would go down.

Wrong, they were even crying about it in the late 1970s and early 80s.
