Pretty sure Heather Heyer was not blocking traffic when she was mowed down in Charlottesville. I think that goes for most victims of domestic terrorists that target protests with their cars.

She was not blocking traffic. She was also not mowed down. Others were, and she died of stress from the situation.

A Dodge Challenger with a 6.2L Hemi can indeed put a LOT of stress on a human torso.

Why stand in front of the car of some stranger who has nothing to do with what you’re protesting, and ruin their day? Why make them part of your drama? If they were interested in your protest, they’d be there. But they aren’t, for whatever reason, and are just trying to go about their lives. But when you stand in front of their car in traffic and confine them there, you are in effect unlawfully detaining them and kidnapping them. You cannot do that to people. Under no circumstances is that ok. It’s a violent act to do that to someone, regardless of how peaceful you think your protest is. And when confronted with violence there are going to be people who respond with violence in-kind.

I think it is fact specific. If it just a group blocking the road, I agree. If they’re surrounding your car and attempting to gain entry, I think driving forward would be justifiable, even if it meant hitting one of the protesters.

Heather Heyer is not particular close to the events in this picture. The larger crowd that was hit, was hit much further up after this car rams another car which hits a van forward.
