Agree on the direct approach, worked for me. I told the guy not to yell at my player and tell them what to do (would not call it coaching).
He insisted that he’s trying to be helpful and that the direction he’s giving is correct. And I responded that even if that’s the case, my player needs to grow and develop at this age and that includes figuring things out and making their own decisions and owning them. That put an end to it and we’re still friendly. |
But that is when the Coach is given a Yellow Card and the ref stops the game until the Coach deals with their parents. The parental Code of Conduct is in most contracts that parents sign when accepting the offer from the club. Coaches do have the authority to ban parents from the sidelines for such asinine behavior. |
