What q fantasy. Republicans and Democrats are furious. No one elected Trump to do any of the unlawful and unconstitutional things he is doing. |
See the bolded, you are buying the GOP propaganda slop rather than rational discourse. I agree with the last sentence, what a mess, indeed. |
Thank you! |
The problem with this analysis is the assumption that the DC establishment had been doing a great job until Trump upset the apple cart for no reason 5 minutes ago. The reality is that most of our regulatory agencies are completely captured by the industries they regulate. This is a natural and well-understood phenomenon, well-articulated by academic studies into regulatory capture and public choice theory. It’s the way of the world, although worse here than most places because of how much money there is in our politics and how much revolving door career management there is in our regulatory agencies. Most public health, safety, medical, food, and chemical regulators in the USA, even if good people, act in ways that dramatically prioritize corporate products over consumer safety. Agencies like the FDA and USDA and CDC are generally working AGAINST your health and safety interests whenever those are in conflict with industry profit maximization. Many hyperpartisan, establientarian DC Democrats who aren’t directly complicit in this are still either unaware of this or in denial of it. Not because they have looked into it and found effective regulatory agencies, but because they hate Trump, hate critics of the establishment, etc. The truth is, if we want safe food, we HAVE to gut the captured regulatory agencies as a minimum first step. The current people (even though well intentioned) and current processes doing more harm than good for public safety. Democratic failure to understand this is hurting Democrats at the ballot box. In knee jerk opposition to alleged wannabe swamp drainer Trump, Democrats painted themselves into a box of owning the current corrupt and ineffective establishment status quo. This is a terrible position for Democrats to be in. The establishment arranged to funnel ALL the productivity gains of the computer revolution, the internet revolution, the global trade revolution, etc to the top 20% of incomes (and most to the top 1% and 0.1%). The working and middle classes got robbed. Voters are NOT in any mood to defend the establishment who did this to them (of “failed to prevent it”). But Democrats are now the defenders of that establishment. |
Ah. So after gutting all our safety and regulatory agencies. Then what? In Project 2025, the plan is to replace them with loyalists. Do you think Republicans will survive any of this? Americans aren't as dumb as you think. We all see what is happening. We know that on January 19th of this year, our food was reasonably safe. And now we know that no one is inspecting it, since they've all been fired. |
TLDR: Democrats want milk tested for safety. Therefore, Democrats are in favor of corporate profits continuing to enrich elites. I also notice you included zero citations to these supposed studies you referenced. |
I certainly did elect him to audit the government, try to root out fraud and waste (i.e. drain the swamp), subject federal bureaucrats to layoffs for the first time in 30 years and to requirements to come in tonthe office for the first time in 5 years, to close the border, to do rapid mass deportations of illegal immigrants, to stop funding Zelensky,to implement tariffs and reset global trade policy, etc. And I have never known a Democrat who cared more about the Constitution and the rule of law than I do. On the contrary, they want to interpret it flexibly to allow for Bill of Rights violating gun control and censorship policy, want to end the electoral college, want non-citizens voting, want unconstitutional powers to “fight Covid,” etc. They were also quite happy to have Congress abdicate its power of the purse to the executive branch when the bureaucracy was reliably liberal and unresponsive to its bosses during Republican administrations. Democrats didn’t complain about Biden’s executive orders opening the borders and bringing IN millions of illegals, just about Trump’s executive orders to close the borders and deport the illegals |
I see Karoline has joined as well. |
I would say ^^ pp’s answers speak for the vast majority of Dems I know. |
Maybe so. But Dems are not the important ones. They will vote D and not R, whoever it is or whatever the platform. Same for MAGA. While some Never Trumpers voted for Harris, it wasn't enough to make a difference. The important demographic is independents. And they are not impressed with any of this, DOGE or deportations without due process or the tariffs. Any of it. |
He has stopped illegal immigration.
He is taking steps to roll back all the illegal immigration that Biden achieved. |
What independent wants a bloated government? None, unless they’re personally profiting from my tax dollars. |
Promises made, promises kept. |
Milk inspections, FEMA assistance, firefighters, cyber security? As an independent, I don't see bloat in those services that have been cut or eliminated. And if you are honest, neither do you. |
One step forward, 100 steps backward. |
