Also first-gen applicants. |
These are not remotely comparable. Emory Oxford is similar to Barnard. Just 2 years instead of 4. Oxford College is harder to get into than Northeastern Boston campus, and all the other schools. |
Oxford College is integrated into Emory’s system- Oxford student have the same portal, email addresses, etc. students can apply to both Emory and Oxford College in the same application. Oxford students graduate with an Emory degree. |
| Barnard is a separate college from Columbia. It’s not like being on a satellite campus. |
No. |

Good for you honey, good for you!
So what? All the acceptances are coming out now. |
So is Oxford, if you look at Emory's factbook, or even the DOE, Oxford students are considered transfers officially. Oxford students don't have to move on to Emory if they don't want to, and many don't. |
Yes |
Northeastern Boston is harder t get into than Emory Atlanta. It has better yield too at 50% compared to 40% Emory. |
And URMs. |
Hope you’re joking. When I was an 18 year old, I was in complete command of my college process and future as an adult, requiring 0 intervention or assistance from my parents (went to Cornell and MIT, BTW). Same applies with each of our kids. They all have their own prestigious part-time jobs and self-managed checking accounts, savings accounts, brokerage accounts, credit cards, and IRAs at the ages of 17, 19, and 21. They pay their own bills, pick their own stocks, and manage all aspects of their financial and educational lives with independence. We’ve empowered them with the tools, structure, and discipline needed to achieve these things. If your kids aren’t operating at similar levels, they probably have you to blame…the lazy, shiftless, outsourcing parent that spends more time drinking wine in front of the television than spending hands-on time with their kids teaching them about the fundamentals in life. Uggh. DCUM. Sigh. |
I'll take a FGLI and/or URM with a 1500 any day of the week. Some people want test scores back, right? |
My kid is a senior now. If one has an issue at Northeastern with the NU.In program, one would have much more problems with the other programs in other schools. There's no stigma at all. Nobody cares and even knows if you got in NU.In. |
| Honestly I don’t get the hype. Almost 100k for an overcrowded campus. If your kid is resourceful they can get their own internships. |
Still less crowded than large public schools. Sure if your kid is resourceful they can get their own job without a college degree that costs $$$. |
