How can we reduce the national debt by $1 trillion?

Republicans claim to care about the national debt but constantly cut taxes then complain that the number is going up even faster. They use sunset clauses and other tricks to make it look cheaper than it is but everyone knows they’re full of crap. Even they know. When you hear a Republican talking about the debt or the deficit, they’re lying. Every single time.

Citizens united took away free speech and replaced it with money. Now those with the biggest coffers drown everyone else out, where it comes to politics. With Citizens united we handed the country over to the oligarchs. Citizens United has everything to do with this conversation.

This is 100% true but it's a difficult to truth to accept for many people. It's much easier for the Republicans and Democrats to just hate the other "side" while closing their eyes and assuming their "side" has some genuinely good intent to look after the interests of all Americans.

Most Americans don't realize this but the political struggle is no longer right vs left. The political struggle is between the American people vs the ultra wealthy and powerful donating entities of our two major political parties. Needless to say, the ultra wealthy are winning.

The rich will flee, like in Europe and states like NY and CA. Only viable option is to cut spending and waste. We also need to look at alternative revenue sources...like tariffs. And no I'm not a Maga. Just worried about debt.

Americans are taxed on worldwide income. You can renounce citizenship but then the exit tax can be pretty painful.

Anyone who cares about deficit needs to bring reasonable taxes to table seeing as we have historically low taxes for the rich and corporations. The very rich want you to think that we have to cut medicare and social security and eliminate most of the government which is not true.

Instead tax the very rich, increase capital gains for the very rich, remove the cap for FICA taxes for social security, medicare for all all and negotiate all drug prices, keep reasonalbe estate taxes, etc. Check out Scott Galloway on youtube.

Allow younger immigrates to come to the US and expedite their work status - we need more workers to support our aging population.

Fight against ageism to allow older works to work longer.

Allow government to have an equity stake in companies whose technology/innovation supported by federal $$ (ie grants, tax credits etc).

Sadly, none of this will happen. It’s all a deck of cards though which has balanced ok until now.
