| Terrible mistake joining. Boys side is all kickball at the older age. |
My DS played against them u little every season. Agree with the assessment above. |
This parent has clearly moved around a ton. I wonder why. |
| How is the VDA USL Y program? |
This tread is about VSA. Go get your eyes checked. |
My eyes are fine. Figured VSA people would have a POV on VDA since they feed into it. |
USL Y aka SUPER Y is weak. If your child plays for VSA then it might be a good fit. |
There isn’t anything wrong with VDA’s USL Y program. They run the program just fine. Communication is good, practices are consistent, etc. The issue is with USL Y as a whole, especially in our division (mid-Atlantic). The competition is bad (i.e. most games are blowouts for VDA), and then the quality of players that participate after U12 dwindles. If you’re looking to stay in shape over the summer in a low key environment, it’s fine, but if you’re expecting competition like you would normally see for, say, ECNL, you won’t get it. |
Thanks, very familiar with USL Y, just wasn’t as familiar with VDA’s approach, so figured I would ask here. I know some clubs take USL Y very casual and have players of all levers on a team, which can be difficult if your DD is one of the stronger players. Other clubs have A and B teams and really try to go to nationals. I am not sure how many teams they sent to FL (too lazy to check) and how competitively they try to field teams, especially at the younger ages. |
VDA has 2 teams in younger age groups, and maybe only 1 team for U15. The goal is to go to Tampa. Everyone plays but the goal is to win. Until U13, there is a clear line between A/B teams, but as stronger players stop participating, it's less distinct. VDA has sent at least 5 teams in each of the last 2 years, 2023 and 2024 (boys/girls). The boys won a few age groups in 2023 and one age group was a finalist and one a semi-finalist in 2024. |

90% of people who know soccer are not signing up for Super Y. Its a waste of time....spend that time working on what your individual DS/DD need and you will be much better off. Why would you sign up your kid for this when A. They club didnt develop them over the past 8. months B. Kids need a break C. You actually have time to focus on specific needs of your kid from a soccer perspective. Parents dont be lazy and take the easy way out, look into what your kid needs and fix it so we dont have to hear about the club not developing players..the league is a platform you need to do the heavy lifting on your own.

| My kid is trying out for VSA for the first time this year. He's only done rec before (in another city). He is big but average in speed. Do average players have a chance of getting on a team? |
Sure. Who do you think makes up their 3rd,4th teams? |
I have no idea how many teams there are, I know next to nothing about travel soccer. |
