Yep this is what our league does. My child’s coach last year had the players vote on who should play in the game. I thought that was really cool

That would be great if all star soccer built their teams like that. Teams getting an equal number of players that their teammates voted in would remove the doubt and bs. It would also result in better stronger teams.

Letting coaches select the team is a perq of the job. It is a lot of work and hassle for a volunteer. Usually coaches want to select a good team. Frankly, there's not much difference between most decent rec players. If he selects his kid's friend over your kid, there is probably very little actual difference in skill.

You must be one of those loser coaches picking your DC and their friends? How’ve your teams done in all star tournaments bub? …. That’s what I thought.

Who cares how they did? I'm sure they all had a great time, playing extra games with friends.

If you want to volunteer to run the all star program for all ages at your rec league (scheduling/supervising multiple tryouts for every age group, selecting teams, finding coaches, registering players, ordering shirts, scheduling all the practices, dealing with parents, getting all the paperwork in to the tournament etc), or coach an all star team, I guarantee you will get the gig. It is a lot of time so hope you aren't busy.

Volunteering is hard. You really have to make sure all those spreadsheets are entered in correctly.

Sounds like you never volunteer for anything, and just sit around and complain. its parents like you that make it hard to find volunteers.

Wow, that is a really poor showing on the girls side. Not much better on the boys side either.

The combined ages are ugly, an all one year team playing all one year older teams, yeah not pretty

have never seen so many scores like 14-0, 10-0 etc in all star tournaments before

How will you get people to volunteer to coach the teams if their own kid doesn't get to play?

Here’s a crazy thought: Your kid could earn a spot like everyone else.

If you’re only volunteering because it’s a perk to put your undeserving DC in all stars then you are a sad person.

Um, so you think some random dad coach should volunteer his time, hold a bunch of extra practices and coach YOUR kid for Father's Day weekend while his kid sits at home. LMAO.

The talent difference between a coach's mediocre kid and your kid who didn't make the team is minuscule. Yes, there are some true all star rec players, but if the coach didn't pick your kid, she ain't one of them.

Nice job making 3 separate post as if you’re a different person. Next time try to spread the messages out by more than 3 minutes. You’re clearly one loser coach coordinator lurking on the this board trying to pretend people agree with you. You might as well go ahead and get your kid another activity.

It sounds made up. Lol

Only Valor could do something like that.
