Will be interesting to see how many of those commits see the field at their respective schools. |
Penn State is a tough place to find the field for anyone. Girl must be dynamic. National team player I assume. |
There are boy and girl parents on this Board.
You REALLY need to specify gender. The gender matters at each Club. Boys--it's none of the ones I see listed for girls. |
Kids brought in on official visits and committing that early in the process are sought after and getting money. College coaches from a lot of programs including this one were at practice sessions at a few of the clubs last spring (check club social media) so kids were obviously high on their radar. Can’t imagine a coach is going to fly cross country or travel any distance to check out a walk on. Stop singling out kids and trying to detract from their success. Congrats to all of the girls at all of the clubs for the work they put into earning these opportunities! |
Cool STORY Union Mom |
There aren’t any ynt players at Loudoun. Try Union or VDA… |
So how are they getting girls in the ACC? |
How does CW have any pull TODAY (not in the past) with college coaches if the only team he is head coach of as of the fall is 11 year old girls travel? |
Some of these players come from certain families. |
Pp who posted that CW is like Biden does not know the college soccer landscape. CW has deliberately moved to coaching younger teams the last several years because his strength is developing players at a young age before NM, etc. take over the older teams. CW is laying the foundation. As far as how he still helps with college recruiting . . . CW is a nationally recognized youth coach. One college coach told me there are two or three club coaches in the country for whom every college coach will pick up the phone if that club coach calls, and CW is one of them. |
LOL....uh no. Walk-on player..... |
|
So CW is going to pick up the phone and tell the college coach that she was a terrific player at 11? |
McLean operates a true club model, where coaches often know players across age groups and multiple coaches will be on the sidelines for club games (whether or not they are the official coach for that team). This is certainly true for the ECNL teams, and CW would be familiar with most of the ECNL players for the club. And yes, he will pick up the phone and call a college coach for one of those players. |
What Club are you at that after you move on to a different coach your old coach who is the TD and a veteran of the Club knows nothing about them again? I’m not at McLean and my son’s Club has many issues but the coaches speak to each other, watch games and training before and after their teams. Follow the best players progress. A good Club is all in to help a player get scouted and get to College. It’s good for the Club. And honestly as bitter as I can get sometimes it’s part of why coaches are coaching. It’s not easy. |
