Someone started a thread on the topic silly!! ![]() |
I remember my mom putting $20 under the fitted sheet when they unpacked his dorm. He called in April to say - amazing! - there was $20 on his mattress. |
When we went on a tour of University of Rhode Island, tour guide mentioned there were companies who did this. Pick-up/drop off at the dorm. It was a negative as far as I was concerned. |
DP. Way to flaunt your wealth. Blech. |
Doing laundry, you met people. In an unpretentious way. |
Just because their is a judgy or nosey or mean thought in your head doesn't mean you need to say it, whether it was solicited or not. And lbh, this is beyond the OP. It's piling on, smugness, and superiority complex. And it's gross. It doesn't affect you so MYOB. |
"Superiority complex" because I make my kid do his own laundry? |
OP asked a question, I responded. Where in my post did I tell others to do likewise? |
well, aren't you special. most kids don't go from being a college kids to being an executive. <eyeroll> |
My kid has a full time job and full time college so yea, he pays for cleaners and laundry. |

sure, i some cases it is warranted. in most cases helicopter arranging and paying for it is not warranted. obviously, everyone can do what they want whether i think it is stupid or not. i will say that i have known kids who had the service but were too lazy to even bring it to the pickup spot. also, many boys will not wash their sheets all year. best case is put on several fitted sheets and peel off one periodically. |
I have done at most 10-20 loads of laundry since Junior year of college. I do know how to do it. Single mom growing up and I did the laundry for the house from about 12-13 until 17. And I did do laundry freshman and Soph years but starting junior year I took to fluff and fold. Not all that expensive. And I never did laundry again except in emergencies. So I don't think it is all that important. DC is in college and the weekly laundry service was like 600 for the year. Laundry pick up and drop off every week. |
Great deal… |
