Ok? So don’t go there? If you are complaining about parking and lack of grid (which is weird because woodmont area is a giant grid, and the more upscale area is about 3 streets so why do you need a grid to navigate) you seem to go to Bethesda an awful lot. So stop doing that if it’s so awful. |
| I like the vibe around Cordell Ave with all those restaurants. Just have to get off Wisconsin and the other wide streets. |
What!?! This makes no sense! |
| My issue with Bethesda is the lack of diversity. Period. Our family moved here (from another part of the US) hoping for a nice neighborhood with interesting, diverse (race, ethnicity, careers, interests) people. This place is anything but that, and it seems like everyone got memo before they moved in: Vineyard Vines wardrobe, check. Range Rover, check. Yellow goldendoodle, check. |
Agreed- I live in alta vista- there are some families in the neighborhood that go to rochembeau but vast majority go to wyngate and aren't very snooty |
I think you need to get out more. You just described almost every affluent neighborhood in every major city. I think maybe you should consider living off the grid? You sound way too superior anyway. Maybe a ship? |
Nobody is wearing a vineyard vines wardrobe, wtf. Please. |
Topic of thread: does anyone hate Bethesda? The answer is yes. I'm sorry I described your miserable suburban hellscape with such accuracy that you're triggered. Sometimes I have to go there for work. |
Plenty of affluence across the world that isn't trying to look like a Ralph Lauren catalogue c. 1996. As the other poster mentioned, your neighborhood is white, white, white. And boring. |
| I live in Bethesda and hate the lack of diversity. I’m a non-white, first generation immigrant woman and have a hard time blending in with other moms in the neighborhood. |
This sounds more like Spring Valley. Are you sure you're in Bethesda? |
Why do you want to blend in? Do you mean make friends? Be outgoing, introduce yourself, listen well, make jokes, host something, join something. I've been in your shoes - own your not blendiness and as something people appreciate, you for you! |
I love living where I can walk to nearly everything I need and routinely run into neighbors or kids friends at the library, playgrounds, and grocery store, but thanks for your concern. Please accept my condolences for having such a terrible job and best luck with your job search. I will play my tiny violin for you as I walk to metro and commute into DC, the utopia where there are never parking issues or boring restaurants and everyone in marvelously diverse and never wear branded clothes. |
I've seen this too - rude behavior, especially in Trader Joe's parking lot! |
As a white, white, white person who wears Ralph Lauren, I appreciate it. |
