They just send cables, by the way. That and cost the taxpayers millions shipping their cars and their Charmin all around the world.

None of those are prestigious in the slightest, and their measly pay shows that. A diplomat (I assume you meant state department) or a fed employee in general are nothing social. They are a dime a dozen, make meh pay (and even then you could argue are overpaid given how little work they do) and have fairly low hiring requirements.

In my book the prestigious careers (outside of unique ones like Hollywood actor) are big law, investment banking, big tech, and to a lesser extent, management consulting.

Really, a high level White House official is a dime a dozen? But Zach the 24 yr old making power points for BCG is “prestigious”?

Your post reeks of being a Penn grad

Funny, but knowing people in all these jobs, they're all pretty bottom of the barrel. None are particularly happy. Exception for appeals court or above judges; those have prestige.

Pediatricians are always crying about their low income, compared to other specialists. Also unless a hospitalist at an academic institution, most pediatricians only do well baby check ups, vaccinations or seasonal infections, nothing exciting.

cancer research without animal testing. To do your research without speciesism is prestigious, otherwise NOT.

Is this a joke? When big law associates (and even partners) flame out, they're lucky if they can land a good Federal attorney job. Management consulting is a complete joke, you're making decks that state the obvious or you're a glorifies salesman. Same for I-banking. And how is big tech prestigious when they're laying off people left and right.

I'm guessing you're either still in college or in your first year at Deloitte.

Prestige? Maybe. But they aren’t respected/ held in high regard by most people.

Can we all agree to start a drinking game with this "prestige" nonsense? Every time it comes up in an initial post -- everyone drink. If it comes up in the title of the post, like it did here, everyone drink twice.

Be careful though, I don't want anyone to die of alcohol poisoning.
