I'd say the following:
- Diplomat - Senior level Sate appointment - Any high-level White House appointment - USAID - CIA |
| Cancer Research. |
| Not much prestige in being a career bureaucrat or political appointee at XYZ agency, TBH |
| Whitehouse staffers and diplomats are questionable too. Most are there because of political patronage. |

Serving as a senator or congressman
Serving as a justice on the Supreme Court |
Its prestigious to bow down to authority, including corrupt governments if you find yourself being born and working for/ in one? To me all of the above are the LEAST prestigious..Id rather make Latte;s |

I used to think state department and diplomats were pretty cool growing up. As an adult, I've met so many who are insufferable and so self important. They're hard to be around. Hard pass.

With the state department there is a difference between high level appointees verses a randon analyst who no one cares about or knows. Diploats, even junior ones, have access to exclusive information and state secrets in addition to being part of an exclusive network. |
