I actually think this thread ended on a better note than it started. It is a relief that many DCUMers can have a good laugh regarding the relative temperature of private school moms (AND their apparently atrocious grammar) rather than seriously discuss the extent to which a child's cuteness helps with admissions.

For the poster who made the really insulting comment about minority children ... some of the elite privates are actually looking for kids from the ghetto and not just those who "act white". I know Visi and Holton take kids from deep into SE, for example.

Early on I thought we had screwed-up. I was a bit worried that the tattoo that my DD got when she was six and the implants she received as a birthday present when she was eight would somehow hurt her chances to get into one of the "Big 5." Truth? Hell, MF no! Despite barely being able to read my DD got into EVERY school she applied to. As a matter of fact the little meth problem she developed helped her fit right in. Most of the girls had been using cocaine which, I am told, can be quite pricey and she helped them to spend less money and let me tell you one other thing: Girlfriend can shake and it's helping to bring all the boys to our yard if you know what I mean? At twelve she has plenty of opposite sex sleepovers and play dates. I love Washington, DC.

Does it make me a world-class idiot to note that not one single Caucasian male in his class is preppy? All, including DS, have appearances that are more skater-edgy-sloppy-rocker. A lot of the white boys have longish hair. Is this horrifically insulting to note? Offensive to all of you that don't know my DS or what school I"m talking about?

If it is not -- and come on, you know it's neither offensive nor insulting for me to say this fact -- then why is it insulting to note that the black kids in DS class ARE INDEED preppy? Seriously, for whatever reason, they are. Argyle vests, pink-n-green, Lacoste, you name it.

I'm not the original offensive PP, BTW. I was just thinking about DS's class while reading along.
