Pretty low bar you're setting there.

Words have meaning.

“Felony” doesn’t equal “misdemeanor,” despite the robust effort of the gaslighting poster(s) on here.

A pile of worms is more palatable than a pile of dog shit, but that doesn't make it attractive, does it?

You clearly believe very strongly in this. But I don't understand why you won't take it to a reporter? Is it because everyone at Alexandria Now is a pal of the mayor who anointed Gaskins and you know they will ignore it? Why not try at the Alexandria Times? Or the Patch?

You aren't reaching a very large audience here. I'd love a good story on Gaskins. Or Jackson (she's comedy gold). Or anyone else running.

DP but it appears you are the one most invested in this. Why else constantly bring it up?

^^^ I’m not the PP you’re responding to. I’m the PP who knows Mr Gaskins hasn’t been arrested or convicted of a felony in VA. At least one poster continues to try to intentionally misrepresent the seriousness of Mr Gaskins’ criminal “activity.” That’s why a couple of us are pushing back.

That's an interesting bit of gaslighting. I just find it odd that you'd keep posting this on anon. board and criticize reporters for not covering an issue that you apparently refuse to bring to them. It's weird. If this means so much to you as you claim, you'd go public and reach a lot more voters.

The reality is that if this was raised by a media outlet or the other campaign, it would likely either have no effect, or more likely backfire on those wishing to use this to discredit. That said, I don't expect it to come up.

Very fair point.

Of course the irony is that this poster is frustrated by the corrupt, good old boys patriarchy they've likely voted for over the years. And now they have no where to go to raise the issue.

Let's remember that this city elected (and continues to love) Bill Euille who was just exposed for taking a $260,000 bribe while in office. Alexandria is not going to care about Gaskin's husband or Jackson's flip flopping or anything else.

So can you clarify, since you know- are the drunk driving arrests and suspended license violations for a Gregory Gaskins with the birth date of 1/4/1990 Alyia’s husband?

I don’t think the lack of felony arrests when discussing drunk driving is going to sway people into believing this is less bad, if true. While a misdemeanor, I think most of us do view drunk driving as a felony level offense and the repeated driving violations afterward are concerning. So if it’s not the same person, it would be good to know that. But if it is and the only defense is that those are not felonies, I don’t think that’s very persuasive.

I agree with the PP who said they should go to the times (and agree ALX Now would 100% ignore this if true).

Yes. It is the same guy.

In the midst of these allegations, Aliya stupidly broadcast a public "HBD!!!" to her husband on "his 34th birthday" on......January 4th.

That alone is proof she is either too stupid or too cocky to lead this town.

Are you the PP I was responding to or the poster who keeps bringing the topic up? I was asking the former because that poster seems to know the family and believes the charges are defendable because they are not a felony. So I am asking the PP if the Greg Gaskins with an history of alcohol related charges is Alyia’s husband based on their knowledge.

If you are not the PP, but rather someone else who keeps posting about this, can you explain why you won’t go to the press?

I’m the PP you were responding to. I don’t know the Gaskins family. I just did my research when somebody was claiming he was a “violent felon” with multiple instances of felony arrests. That may be the case, but those arrests weren’t in the Commonwealth.

I won’t be voting for her so I’m definitely not trying to defend her. I’m just of the thought that if someone makes those claims, they’d better be true.

Got it. Thanks for clarifying. I agree those charges do not read “violent felon,” though I think they are concerning for both the spouse of a potential mayor and someone who works at a school.

Is there a running list of which candidates support the arena (even if they sat they're "on the fence"), and which candidates oppose it?

As someone <1 mile from the site, that's how I'm basing any of my votes this year. I'm certain that I'm not alone.

I think most people regard Drunk Driving as a violent crime.
