| Don't you think that serious Ivy+ professors want serious students? Admissions has become a joke. |
|
I think AOs are in their 20s, usually slums, pink hair/non-binary and they want a “story” that they can relate to or sparks something in them….
So really there’s luck in appealing to a group of them in your story. The best private CC are ones that have done this recently and can speak their language to appeal to this group. https://www.reddit.com/r/ApplyingToCollege/s/3MGJwSzHAu |
Alums not slums |
Yeah. It's why normal smart kids don't fare well. They despise the non-EMO, cis heterosexuals with normal functioning (no executive function disorders or neurodivergence to write about). |
And I don’t mean to imply that everyone is, pink-haired and nonbinary (and nothing wrong with that). I’m just saying look at the photos of the missions officers for colleges in T25, and make your own educated assessment of who their priority might be. |
Ivy professors care about publishing and research. Those things are kind of their real jobs. I've known a few who were frustrated they had to give everyone A's. |
Look Moses Martin declared "Music" as his major. His father is Chris Martin from "Coldplay" and I've seen him on the guitar and musically....you think any music department is going to reject him?! He's more than qualified with the upbringing he had in the music industry. |
this is why the "published author" "research assistant" "second author" pay to play game is so strong right now |
|
AOs are biased.
They don’t want the three sport varsity captain who is also student body president. That is not unique or cool enough, and does not resonate with them. Today, kids need a soundbite and “smart jock” doesn’t work. |
| Very, very few AOs have a STEM background. They're impressed by a lot of weird things. |
Like what? |
Makes you wonder how any STEM applicants are ever admitted then, right? |
They do want him if he’s URM |
Say what? |
This. Marry someone from un "unprivileged" background, even if they are privileged. You are welcome. |
