This 10000%. 07 boys are 2025/2026 so already in the middle of recruiting. And now they’re going to bring in Mikey Welsh and Alex Burke to take over KB’s practices and form a “strategic alliance” with Northern Virginia United Academy?!? Recruiting for class of 2025 boys won’t happen until next fall/winter and class of 2026 the following year. It’s only the very top mls next and ECNL that get recruited spring of junior yet. These boys will be fine. This is the time to send film and do ID camps. It’s different for girls. They get recruited much earlier than boys. The recruiting for girls class of 2025 is in full swing.

Don’t know about MW and NVU/GFR but that will be interesting and not surprising given BW runs NVU

It’s really fascinating that Northern VA clubs constantly merge and/or realign themselves with other clubs. MD clubs rarely change….I am not saying that no change is a good thing. Wish MD clubs realign once in a while.

Too far in either direction can be good or bad whether it's changing all the time or staying static for too long. Around NoVA, it really feels like it's always a coaching carousel.

It's not a coincidence. Constant change and the allure of a shiny new object is part of the recruitment/retention strategy.

Gfr has always operated by “offering the new shiny toy”, and they live and die off that. NVA alliance was just to put on their website, no real care about the growth of NVA or organically fortifying their foundation.

NM will gut their staff and gut their teams, and your kid will be replaced at the drop of a hat because that’s how they operate. GFR will be the lowest tier in NM’s system. They will promise ecnl spots and you’ll end up playing busted ass EDP or NCSL. I feel really sorry for all the GFR families who have put so much loyalty into that club all for RS to rip it away and allow the upcoming purge to take place.

How are the teams (looks like 90% girls) from DMV? They don't seem to be that strong to up end the GFR teams.

As a club for girls they're ranked 36th out of 38 in VA. Rankings are subjective but there is some value in them.

Are you talking about GOT soccer? Only use for that is to see all their results in one place and you would have to analyze the team you are looking at to compare their results to others

As a player who's had players on NM's team, that is absolutely not true that your kid will be replaced. Look at their 06 team; many of the same players since they were U9. They can't promise ECNL spots; those are NVA decisions. And if you are talking about McLean, many of his girls from DMV went to play for Union/McLean as discovery players. Not everyone likes NM and that's fine but let's not make silly claims like there will be a "purge" at GFR.
