Most of them. I know you want this "URM stole my kid's spot" to hold, but it just doesn't. Most of this kids I know or have seen getting into multiple Ivies are not URM. |
There are ways to know if essays are written by consultants or AI. Family and friends work in admissions at Ivy and equivalent |
| I know a student this year who got in for STEM, top of the class, good test scores, major awards, not legacy. |
I also have friends and family that work in admissions at Ivies. Maybe you can tell if an essay is written by AI, but definitely not if it's written by a consultant or some other paid essay writer. |
| Less than 1% of Princeton early action applicants got in this year from NoVA. |
Agreed with this fully. I was white and from a wealthy suburban high school and got accepted to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, CalTech, and MIT. I think there's a bias that URMs are the only ones who sweep the Ivies because they end up in the news for it when they do. If someone from an extremely disadvantaged situation sweeps the ivies, there's a news clip or newspaper article about it. When someone with lots of advantages in life(like myself) does it, it's not really newsworthy - it happens all the time and shouldn't be too unexpected. You just don't hear about it. |
