Penn President resigns

Penn is a lower Ivy. $100 million can buy a president there.

I would be shocked if Harvard and MIT followed suit. Honestly I don’t think this cancel culture encouraged by the right helps Jewish people.

I was concerned by the questions and attitude of the qustioner. Let me understand, she is a Trumper, a pro insurecctionalist and anti abortion. Now she's concerned about free speech violation. She was trying to trap.

Stefanik may have "trapped" them, but I am surprised at how poorly these leaders handled themselves. The presidents of major universities are public figures and should be able to think and speak clearly under pressure. College presidents should have to be strategic and clever. How can they run a university and stand up to the faculty if they are so easily outmaneuvered by a politician? These hearings made me wonder.

Penn has a large Jewish population so the Israel Palestine situation will have more salience than Harvard or Princeton.

Not at all. Many consider Penn to be the #2 ivy.

+1

The irony is that Israel seems to be committing genocide against the Palestinians.

+1. Fired over a hypothetical. No one has called for genocide against Jewish people (one-sided interpretations of a chant don’t count). Meanwhile, the Palestinians are being eradicated (even from Southern Gaza where Israel told them to go).

That’s war.

Not genocide

Need to start hiring more outspoken conservative faculty.

Nicky Haley for President. No more taxpayer money to fund grants at these "academic/learning" institutions.

Conservative cancel culture is way worse as it has no moral compass. Not a surprise given the self serving nature of the right.

Got any specifics?

Calling for them to be murdered in genocide is not “criticism,” love.

Too much legal prep, hence robotic legalese answers rather than actually thinking on their feet. None of these woman are dummies irl and would definitely condemn unequivocally any form of antisemitism irl.

Ha, no. They are actually extremely dumb, if they didn’t realize how horrific their comments were, and didn’t anticipate this blowback.

This x 1000. The irony of it all. It’s UofP’s motto. “Laws without morals are useless”

Same. They should have been smarter. People have done better in Congress under much harder questioning.
