DC criminals stealing your coat at gunpoint

I honestly see absolutely no difference at all when democrats mug you through taxes for their socialist agenda versus these guys in the street who deserve a piece of your wealth (e.g. nice coat). TBH, I think the muggers on the street have more integrity than Dems in office, because at least they’re honest about their intentions. Dems mug you for your wealth and pretend like they’re doing you a favor.

The thread is about street crime but go off.

You’re just salty because it is true. No difference between Democrats in Congress vs the streets doing wealth redistribution.

Personally, I would never wear an expensive coat. For my money it’s wasteful. But for their money they could do whatever they want with it, and they have the right to wear it without fear of it being stolen.

I worked so hard for my Canada goose, from cleaning motel rooms as a kid, working at putt-putt in the summers, work-study jobs, etc. I love my Canada goose and now I can’t wear it because of thugs.

You can always pop the stitches and take the little logo patch off. Presumably it's the coat you want to wear and not the branding.

Oh that is definitely not happening.

They're stealing them and reselling them. Just like they do to iPhones and all the crap they steal from CVS. I remember it used to be Jansport backpacks, Air Jordan shoes and North Face jackets they wanted.

Now people wear more expensive stuff with flashy labels (not judging, some people are into that, and that's ok), making it easier to identify and thieves just think they won't get caught. The fact that now they use guns is totally nuts. The additional fact that it is still happening, is awful. Guns + crime = what could possibly go wrong.

Pretty much this. We need some criminal equity to get cops to start taking crime seriously. White folks need to step up, do their part, and start carjacking and murdering people.

I have a Canada goose without the red label. (Kind of like this) Am I safe?

No one will ever rob you for a Patagonia coat. That is a brand that is distinctively unpopular with the demographic most likely to put a gun in your face for your coat.

You’re in DC. You’re not safe under any circumstance.

Then buy a knockoff patch and put it on a cheap coat.

I really resent having my freedom curtailed. It's not about the label or the price, it's about wearing what you want. There was a time in DC when thieves were after dorky Eddie Bauer jackets. 3 in 2 days is ridiculous. The police can monitor all of this on social media (including known resale venues) and the attorneys should be ready to prosecute. Curtailing everyday citizens rights in the name of equity and justice reform reeks of the Chinese cultural revolution when they went after intellectuals with glasses.

Shoot back.

It’s the only way this current crime wave will end.

Most progressives are critical theorists so they view the poor as oppressed. To them, street crime is justice. That's why this won't be solved as long as leftists are in charge. We need good moderate liberals and conservatives to come in and implement solutions that work in the real world, not just the world of make-believe that progressives live in.

You are wrong. I am a progressive that believes that the poor are clearly oppressed in our society. The flaw in your nasty assumption is that I don’t think these kids are criminals because they are poor. Poor people are not “more criminal” in nature than wealthy people. You are not a serious person and would rather tilt at windmills than discuss these issues reasonably.
You've clearly never been poor. I have and poor people are far more prone to criminal activity than middle and upper class folks. Any crime map or crime statistics will tell you this. As a progressive, you are living in the land of make-believe where "data is white supremacy" so you're not allowed to use it. So you are incapable of solving this issue.

NP. What a load of bullshit and excuses.

My parents were both very poor immigrants from poor families on different continents. My father was homeless during much of his childhood. Other than taking food sometimes as a child in the 3rd world, he never stole a thing in his life, and we were raised to do/believe the same.

And upper/middle class people steal all the time, just more sneakily, and white collar, and through legal loopholes. Your SEC does not determine how much more prone to criminal activity you are.

So basically, he stole in his lifetime to eat? The same as these kids, stealing expensive gear to sell it to survive. And yet somehow your father is a beacon of light?

This sounds a bit too much like “what is the rationale behind a young woman in her teens and early 20s walking around wearing tight skirts and low-cut tops and heels? Especially after they were told that are at risk of being raped so they should stop wearing them….”

Maaaybe just maaaaaybe the responsibility of not being ROBBED should not be placed onto the VICTIM of the robbery.

For god’s sake of course not, but wear your Canada goose coat at your own risk.
