Once I lined up early at the Hecht's warehouse outlet to get a new high end mattress for my kid who had outgrown her crib, it was on sale for $20. I remember I ran to the mattresses and I was pulling on it from one side while someone else was pulling on it from the other side. I won.

That was decades ago, never went Black Friday shopping again.

+1. It’s like the people who stand in line for hours on free cone day. Or just go tomorrow and pay $6.

I worked retail (a clothing store at Tysons) on black Friday in 2021. It was a mob scene.

Curious to hear from anyone braving Tysons Corner today? What is like out there?

We were at Tyson’s galleria this morning. Easy in and out. Not crowded at all except in the shoe departments at saks and neiman. The traffic around Tysons Corner Mall was ridiculous by 1030, so we avoided that one all together. When we left, there appeared to be some idiots setting up a protest on route 7.

Showed up at 9 am, parked easily and strategically for an easy exit with no wait. Mall was very crowded but not insane). Bought the two items we went for, poked around a bit, left at 11:15, got out of the parking lot with no delays, but it was way more crowded than when I arrived. Wouldn’t recommend going if you have to try things on, because dressing room lines were long, but it was fine for us because we had specific items in kind.

It’s a low class activity.

Perhaps, but not at Tyson's on Black Friday.

Used to love Black Friday, the energy was amazing and afterwards we’d go get breakfast. Kohls, Target, Best Buy and one year Sam’s club. Now it’s not even a thing, this area doesn’t even do the newspaper anymore. So many memories, sad it’s come to an end.

Agreed. I went to the Target and Aldi on that end yesterday and had no issues getting in and out.
