It is Native American heritage month. What stolen land do you live on?

Sorry. Not even close.

The Jews were in Israel/ Gaza/Jerusalem in 1200 BC.

Not arguing that. Point is most folks are telling Israel to give the land back to Palestine… when it’s been Israel for 75+ years. Regardless of who was on the land first it’s hypocritical for Americans to argue for Palestine “from the River to the sea” and not themselves want to give up their land.

+1
And I’m not donating my house back either.

+1 It's quite funny.
Every time a similar topic pops up, most Americans are "meh, history is written by the conquerers, that's how it's always been and no need to feel bad about it." However look at all the heartbroken, stressed out folks (even on DCUM!) over conflicts in the Middle East, Ukraine, etc...

We can at least be more consistent - "meh, history will play itself out so let's sit back and see who wins the fighting in the Middle East/ (insert any on-going conflict)" instead of "ohh this is not right, there are victims dying!! We must stand up for justice!!"

Funny, I feel it's the opposite. Americans are expected to feel guilty for living on "stolen land" but Palestinians are CURRENTLY being forced out of their homes with incredibly violent methods (over 10,000 dead this year alone) and we're supposed to cheer on the Israelis? It's a very interesting double standard.

Blah blah blah.

The first reference to “Israel” as a land inhabited by Jews, known as Israelis, dates to 1205 BCE. Nearly 2 millennia before Islam even existed. If we’re going to play silly games about who is “indigenous” to a place, let’s at least be factual.

As it happens, I don’t really care about that. Israelis generally subscribe to Judeo-Christian western values. They are a democracy. They respect indivisible rights. They don’t hang homosexuals or legalize the beating of women. In short, they’re better people.

Lands change hands across history. While it’s by no means assured, we are fortunate that the best (though by no means perfect) nations, for now, have done the best.

They actually dont. For example, Jews believe Jesus was a false prophet who's burning in hell. Muslims believe Jesus was a revered prophet and actually respect him.

This isn't what Judeo Christian values refers to--it doesn't mean that Jews and Christians assume each other believe the same thing about the messiah. No thanks for your attempt to get people to hate Jews.

Though there are many aspects to the Judeo-Christian ethic, some of the more common ones are the sanctity of human life, personal responsibility, a high regard for marriage, and compassion for others. Much of what is best in Western civilization can be directly attributed to the Judeo-Christian ethic. Historian Thomas Cahill, in pointing out the common themes of Christianity and Judaism, said, “The heart of the Torah is not obedience to regulations about such things as diet—what one may eat, whom one may eat with, how one must prepare oneself beforehand—but to tzedakka, justice like God’s Justice, justice toward the downtrodden.” The foundations of the Judeo-Christian ethic can be summarized in the “Golden Rule” which Jesus taught His disciples in Matthew 7:12, “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.”
https://www.gotquestions.org/Judeo-Christian-ethic.html

And that's my point... Jews and Christians have COMPLETELY different values.

But by your logic, if me just mentioning that Jews and Christians do not have the same values is trying to get people to "hate" them, are you doing that by trying to claim muslims dont have the same values? Trying to stoke hate for muslims and get Christians to pair up with jews?

You seem to have never heard of the phrase Judeo Christian values until this moment. For those of us who know what it means, you are not going to be successful in redefining it.

No, I actually have heard of it, which is how I know that it's a gross generalization and oversimplification that has almost no basis in reality.

You're not going to be successful in bias-ing Christians against Muslims or making them turned a blind eye to a genocide that's happening.

I don't have an agenda like you do. I am not trying to manipulate anyone to believe anything. That is my point, neither your words or my words will change anyone's mind. Individuals' values held with assess the values displayed in the people and groups involved in what is going on over there. I was just giving insight into a particular value system.

It seems like you do. Because Jews and Christians dont have much in common, certainly not any more than Christians have with Muslims.

I mean were they being “forced out” prior to the October attack on Israel by their elected leadership? Or is the *response* to that attack that reignited war with Israel resulting in their needing to flee their homes to avoid bombing?
I don’t see people “cheering” the death or displacement of innocent Palestinians, even as they show support for Israel’s right to defend itself from terrorist attacks perpetrated by Hamas. Israel and those who support Israel are not jeering “death to Palestinians!” And they are not rejoicing in the suffering of innocent civilians.
Hamas, however, is not shy about publicly and repeatedly stating their objective as total destruction of Jews. And this means that Israel cannot be assured of its security and safety unless and until Hamas is rendered unable to carry out this stated objective.

Jewish theologian here, and Jews do not believe Jesus is burning in hell, and I have no idea where you got that from. Judaism doesn't even require a concept of hell to begin with.

Land rights have been fought over throughout human history. That's like what most wars were about.

Many Jews have said incredibly disrespectful things about Jesus. H3 was joking just a few months ago about how the Jews killed Christians and how he'd do it again. Considering Jesus is the foundational figure of Christianity, that is almost unfathomably disrespectful. Now that everything has popped off in Israel Christians are supposed to feel some kind of kinship for Jews and rush in in solidarity? What on earth?

When Christians say anything even slightly critical of Jews, they get called anti-semetic and their lives essentially ruined. Lots of Jews have done extremely anti-Christian things (and anti-Muslim) and gotten away with it completely. Sacha Baron Cohen, anyone?

Please stop it’s obvious you know nothing about history, especially not early Christian history and how the church was established. Jesus was born, raised and died a Jew. He never thought of himself as anything but a Jew. Likewise, early Christians never considered themselves as anything other than a sect of Judaism. It was only CENTURIES later, when the Romans adopted Christianity, that that the big distinction was made.

To say that Christianity has nothing in common with Judaism, (and no more so than with Islam), when it started off as a sect within Judaism, is like saying Americans have nothing in common with the English, not anymore than they do with the Pakistanis. It’s ludicrous and ignorant.

Also, you obviously know nothing about Judaism. There is no hell in Judaism.

Please open a book and read it. Thanks!

Is this a joke? Jesus, who called himself the Son of God multiple times, was not a Christian? I'm gonna try to give you the benefit of the doubt and hope that you dont realize how disrespectful everything youre saying is to Christians. Fundamentally, Jews and Christians disagree about the most important tenet of the Christian faith, as well as many, many other principals (too many to mention)

Also, given that logic, then Jews should be talking about "Judeo-Islamic solidarity" given both religions started with Abraham. But no, it's only Christians who are expected to advocate for another religion despite a lot of hostility directed at them from members of that religion. Maybe because theyre the largest voting block in the US, hence the faux, one sided "solidarity". It's absurd at this point.

*jews killed Jesus, I meant to say!

And Christians have never, ever said anything disrespectful about Jews. /S

H3 should apologize, in my opinion, but they haven't asked me for advice yet

I can see that you’re very opinionated on stuff you don’t know like history, but can you grasp the concept that during Jesus’s life he was spreading his gospel to other Jews. And yes, the early Christians were a small sect within Judaism.

Read a book about early Christianity. If you’re too lazy to do that, watch a documentary about it on the History Channel or something. Jesus never at any point in time considered himself as anything but a Jew.

Also, why do you deign to pretend to know anything about Judaism and its values? You didn’t even know that there’s no hell in Judaism. That’s as basic as it gets. Why don’t you just admit your an antisemite (and a very uneducated one at that)?

How do you not understand that if they believed Jesus was the Son of God they fundamentally cannot be Jews? This is the most basic concept I'm not sure how it escapes you.

See, and there it is. The "anti semite" slur whenever someone criticizes the Israeli government or is at all unwilling to show support for Zionism. Please. This is why people are tired.
