Green bean casserole should be banished to hell

I think I've had it once and didn't mind it.

It's every holiday meal and church potluck from my childhood in one hotdish.

What is this talk about cheese? I've eaten my share of various green bean casseroles over the years and not one included cheese. Tell me more please!

We trashed it up even more by adding Velveeta to the sauce.

Maybe we need to ban by recipe. I’m a fan of normal green bean casserole. The cheesy versions sounds disgusting and I am okay with banning.

This is pretty tasty and goes well with anything

This is not remotely what OP is discussing. There are 1000's of green bean recipes. OP is not talking about generic Green beans but THAT gross white casserole.

We’ve never eat green been casseroles in my family, but I am amazed people still eat these unappetizing dishes, which seem to be firmly rooted in post-war America.

It’s time for a refresh! No wonder people complain about thanksgiving meals.

I'm with you on the refresh.
Let the turkey go too. Free bird

And marshmallows on sweet potatoes? Do people still do that? Everyone needs to modernize their menu. Little tweaks.

Well they DID like awful food in the 50s, 60s, 70s. Now people just keep making these dishes for nostalgic reasons. Not because they’re good.

Yeah, we had it every year at Thanksgiving and at Christmas and there was never cheese involved. The top of the casserole was a layer of french fried onions, not cheese.

Oh, what a Hot Take. Casseroles are disgusting! Canned foods are gross! Down with green bean casserole! Wow, you’re so sophisticated. Good thing Anthony Bourdain is dead but you’re still alive to carry on, lest we forget what good food is and how to live. Yours is an innovative, unique viewpoint that has never been explored on DCUM in all its snobbish, superior glory. I, for one, am deeply impressed.

Mmmmmmmm....we love it. Even my teens and young adults. I once forgot to make it for Christmas and you would have thought I killed Santa.

We do Thanksgiving with friends and I always bring it. Her kids love it too. Totaly old school style also.

Definetly passing it on to the next gneration. You're welcome!
