And save up to pay for your kid’s therapy.

The poor kid.

what a jealous and malicious biatch!
have you thought about the possibility that only your own dumb kids would need a therapy to get to that kind of score (they probably never will)?

Wow, your anger and ignorance blinded you to the point of this post.

If you keep pushing your kid despite such a strong score (acting like they are not good enough), they will need therapy.

I worked in college admissions.

CS and Econ are crazily cutthroat and nearly impossible to get admitted for nowadays. Furthermore, a 760 Math will put him at disadvantage if he's applying for CS now at competitive colleges.

My recommendation would be to pivot to niche humanities subjects like Art History, Ethnic Studies, Linguistics, History, etc. Most schools are looking to beef up their humanities classrooms, because they are struggling to get students to enroll in them.

Once he's admitted, then he can swap subjects to whichever he wants.

It seems like a lot of schools you need to direct admit for CS, so it doesn’t seem like that would work?

+1
Not everyone is meant to go to college. And that’s ok.

I just read the phrase “a 760 math will put him at a disadvantage” and I have decided we’re done with this game. Nope.

I don’t think that was OP. Your brain is just too small to think critically.

I think everyone should take it appx 3x

What would be the goal? 1540 is like in the 97th percentile of test takers.

If they are applying to CS/Eng at a T20 school, I would consider retaking simply to get a higher math score. But I wouldn't stress about it. Do test prep (either on your own or hire a 1-1 tutor for 4-5 hours of individualized help for specific/targeted help) and take one more time and be done

I’m with you. My daughter has a 28 ACT. She had a couple of reaches where that’s not gonna cut it. She applied EA and I asked her if she decided to go TO. She said “hell no I’m proud of my score!” (We are proud too. She is historically not a test taker).

College admissions have become a ridiculous game and it appears even my daughter is already tired of it 😂

This whole Top 20 thing is so overblown and pointless, especially for CS. There are hundreds of great schools that will give your 1540 kid merit money to attend. Go for that.

We were told not to retake as long as you were above 700 in each. Anything else honestly doesn't matter and won't be the reason you don't get in.

One and done. That's how we roll.

This is not entirely accurate advice. Some majors demand a very high math score in order to receive serious consideration for direct admission to that major--such as CS.

Disagree with the bolded.

Check first as many schools will not allow one to switch into certain highly competitive, impacted majors.
