is the word/phrase 'baby mama' racist?

The country dies not benefit from having an army of people whose full-time job is apparently looking under every rock desperately hoping to find things they can say are racist.

I have no better way to refer to the idiot woman who birthed our niece and nephew then basically abandoned them a few years later. She is a waste of space and I’m not even going to pretend to like or respect her.

I see it in medical contexts where it is factual, not racist or with a negative connotation.

What medical context do you frequently see “baby mama”, as in a person with whom someone has had a child but is not married to? Please note that it is not the same as “baby’s mother”.

Sorry, I actually meant baby daddy. From doctors and nurses - I suppose they also use baby mama but that's usually doesn't need to be said.

FOB is used in charting, for "Father Of Baby." It's used in the research literature, too. I have never heard "baby daddy" or "baby mama" in clinical work.

Yes. As an African American, I would be very offended if someone referred to my child's father as my "Baby Daddy." I would be even more offended if that person was not black.

IMO both are racist and at the very least derogatory.

It's a trashy way to speak. You sound like a trashy person when you use this term.

Is it racist? Who cares. It sounds trashy.

To be fair, my BIL was a complete moron for producing 2 children with her. He’s not innocent. The whole thing is and has been a mess from beginning to end.

They are teens now and she basically only buys them things these days. Occasionally shows up at a game or two.

The only good thing is they have lived with my ILs most of their lives and have had their good influence on them. My BIL has cleaned up a lot and has been a fairly stable parent. We don’t live anywhere close, but we do what we can, too.

It is not racist if you are Black or BIPOC.

But it is super racist if a white uses it.

I love reading threads where overprivileged UMC white women debate whether something is racist or not.

Hysterical.

White people exclusively have the ability to be racist.

BIPOC peoples are not capable of racism by definition.
