USAID is a sh!#show

I left them as they started to push vaccines on other countries and couldn't get their own population vaxed. I am a scientist and don't support pushing agendas. Unfortunately development is nothing but that.

The entire culture of the bureau seems to thrive on the leaders' self-promotion and on the higher-ups tasking everyone down the food chain with a million things at the last minute, on evenings and on weekends. No respect for real expertise, instead a dillution of people's experience and seniority. At least one office is run by someone who is patently unqualified. Toxic and some of our best people have already fled.

Believe it or not, the IG’s office is worse!

You all just got all new leadership. Well, mostly all new. What's the issue now?

Right? I thought people at the new IG's prior office (NASA OIG) were pretty happy...? Is USAID OIG still toxic?

Is it more toxic than State?

You're going to need to explain the linkage. It's not clear to me.

Well- to be fair "getting our own people vaxxed" is not USAID's mandate. The fact that USAID was able to help in other countries when even the US can't get its act together would actually be a compleiment to USAID

Speaking as someone who is not an anti-vaxxer, but who does believe our own vaccine schedule is a little nuts compared to everyone else’s, isn’t the whole point of international development to push our agenda on other countries? Was that supposed to be a secret or something?

I have heard that she is a nightmare self promoter and not at all good to work for.

I'd be surprised if USAID wasn't one of the first targets of the new "America First" administration. While most of the money goes to American consultants and companies, the idea that we are trying to give foreign countries things that we don't have everywhere in the US would seem to be on the chopping block.

It totally will be. And everyone there is cluelessly plugging away.

Our bureau is led almost entirely by self-important and connected white women. Oh, maybe 2 white men. All these people do is sit around acting "senior" and creating crazy process and bureaucracy for other people. And there is no actual diversity and no new ideas are wanted. If you have ideas you are clearly a threat. I am staff and it is toxic. I Think it should be immadiately DOGEd.

Well, you've got groups with leadership that is 100% non-White. It seems to track with other agencies.
