You should leave OP! Find something that brings you joy.

Same here. Wanted that and then grad school led me to corporate finance and tech. Work is somewhat mission driven but not USAID level. Sorry, OP. Sounds like a nightmare. Wish I could offer advice but going to agree with PP that you should probably swim away from the sinking ship before you get dragged down with it.

This is sadly true. I knew her in a former role and she is “qualified” and bright, but a shameless self-promoter and credit-taker looking to build her profile in all things.

Waste of money this agency should be folded into a state

Let's hope they don't make her SecState in a second Biden administration. Which is the position she seems to be constantly auditioning for.

It just keeps getting worse. We have a brand new bureau led by a bunch of self-absorbed fools. All process, all stress, no imagination. The entire culture of the bureau seems to thrive on the leaders' self-promotion and on the higher-ups tasking everyone down the food chain with a million things at the last minute, on evenings and on weekends. No respect for real expertise, instead a dillution of people's experience and seniority. At least one office is run by someone who is patently unqualified. Toxic and some of our best people have already fled.

Believe it or not, the IG’s office is worse!

Would have time to talk? I was offered a job at USAID. Your posts concern me.

Ha! As I SAIS grad I find this hilarious. I mean, yes, PSLF did take care of my loans, but it's not like I made tons of money in the process (not at USAID, fwiw). Also, I'd say in the development sphere, there many many more of us at the World Bank than at at USAID.

You all just got all new leadership. Well, mostly all new. What's the issue now?

This doesn’t surprise me but also seems like it could describe about a dozen agencies, unfortunately.

As someone who had to deal with USAID as a donor this has been a problem for years. Haven’t worked in aid sector in a decade so…

I've never heard anything good about USAID. Would never apply to work there!
