I specifically said I feel safe here and have no intention of moving. You really think accurately quoting crime stats (that show that Ward 3 violent crime is up less than citywide) means someone wants to leave town? |
Eh, I mean, a lot of CVS locations have a security guard. I don’t have a problem with that at all. |
This is an incredibly sad mind set. |
| If you live in upper northwest (west of the park, naturally), you’re supposed to believe that traffic deaths are a massive problem (even though hardly anyone dies in crashes) and that crime is rare and overblown (even though there’s 30,000 crimes in DC per year). |
No. It is a total dump. The CVS and Target look like third world country establishments inside. The WaWa is also disgusting. |
I think crime is a problem and that traffic injuries or deaths are also a problem. Fortunately, there's no reason you can't address both if you're a large city. |
I can tell you weren't around then if you think Tenleytown is worse than in the early 90s. |
It’s a CVS and Target in a city..what do you expect. The Target is just fine. If you want a fancier experience go to Saks. T |
| Are the people with money moving away? |
I was here in the 80s and 90s. You’re are wrong. |
+1. Every time I make the mistake of going into the Chic-Fil-A I wonder if anyone from corporate has ever visited the store. |
You realize that it is the local customers without any respect for themselves or others that trash the store correct? And then they wonder why businesses close shop and move. |
I live in upper NW now but grew up in DC in the 80’s and these are not my thoughts… |
| I don’t feel as safe as I used to in NW, where I’ve lived for 40 years. I no longer walk in my neighborhood after dark, I stay away from Columbia Heights at all hours, and I’m beginning to avoid Van Ness as much as possible. If it gets any worse I will probably move. I’m furious with Bowser and the City Council for the voucher fiasco and the laissez-faire attitude on crime. |
