I hope this was tongue in cheek.

Of course not. Less than half of AP Gov takers got 4 or 5, and very few first years took any AP courses.

My rising junior got a 3 and was happy with that given the score distribution.

Still no Lang score for my kid either.

My rising senior got...
- 4 on AP Eng Lang
- 5 on AP Calc BC
- 4 on AP Physics 1
- 5 on AP Stat
- 4 on APUSH

and has a 5 from AP Comp Sci A from sophomore year

Should they report these scores (on the common app) to UVA and VA Tech? I think the scores are awesome, but in the past, people have said that you only want to report 5's to UVA.

Don't worry. Most colleges do not give any useful credit for that AP class anyway. It's really just an intro class to get more students into AP com sci A later...which will result in college credit if you get a 4 or 5 (in AP com sci A)..

Similar schools and I think we’re leaning towards reporting the 4. My kid also has a 3 from freshman year which I think we will not report on the common app. That was a remote year and the teacher skipped half the curriculum I think.

GL to your daughter. My son’s friend was planning to attend a university in Europe and received a 4 on a senior year AP exam and so July after HS graduation he was informed he could no longer attend that uni. He took a gap year and reapplied and is at a fantastic uni now, so all hopefully work out no matter what, but I commiserate with how stressful this must be.

I would not want to attend any school that rescinded an acceptance just for getting a "4" on an AP exam! I'd happily dodge that bullet and find a school that was SANE.

You are clearly unfamiliar with UK college application process. For US applicants there are certain hurdles you must meet - and in the case of this student, her program requires three APs with a score of 5. Our DC had the same requirement for another UK school.

Are you in DC?

My rising junior took their first AP tests this year. Two were self study, both 5s. The one they actually took a class in (AP Gov) they got a 3. Not sure what to think about that.

I know that the history/social studies APs have very specific grading rubrics that may not align with students' instincts of how to write essays. Were the other test in STEM?

You folks are really and truly and honestly obsessed. I feel really sorry for your kids. The pressure you must be putting them under!

One was. The other was Music Theory.
