Academy of the Holy Cross vs. Connelly School of the Holy Child

I think you mean the HC mother. She keeps bagging on AHC. Not sure what her deal is.

The W schools have superior college results than AHC. With less bullying too.

No HC is not really that impressive at all. Same as last year so far. Yes, one to Georgetown and a couple to UVA. Not one top 20 school. Not one early admit to Notre Dame. This is a Catholic school. I never see any admits to ND or BC from this school, even with all of its wealth and likely legacies. Why is that? Looking at SR and VISI, lots of admits to ND every year. Two already posted for VISI and one for SR this year.

Well people weren’t asking about SR or Visi, were they? Visi is not doing well at all this year compared to last year. Bitter pill I suppose. ED? There are no early decision Boston College admits? Since when does that determine a great school? Regular decision hasn’t even come out yet. Everyone knows that the weaker candidates apply ED anyway. Prep didn’t get one Boston College ED so they are terrible school? Stop being so jealous.

LOL, jealous of what? My daughter already graduated and is attending a top 20 university.

As for BC, I am not sure what point you are trying to make. HC didn't have any early BC admits either. VISI had two for ND. SR had one ND and one BC. I would not consider HC a better school than AHC. It is on par academically. It just has a wealthier student population.

Everyone knows that AHC is at the bottom for academics of all girls schools. Everyone. Not to say that they can’t get a top 20 every now and then outside of sports and hooks. I think they had one last year. And if wealth were the determining factor, everyone at Bullis would be going to a top 20 and they aren’t. They have good matriculation, but hardly what you would expect from such ostentatious as wealth -same with Georgetown Prep. Try again…

This. Admissions right now is a jungle. Any private high school that is consistently getting their kids into solid competitive schools deserves credit. Bullis isn’t doing that. Holy Child is doing that consistently.

Where are you getting your information? I just looked at both school provided matriculation lists. HC had one student out of the entire class matriculate to a top 20 school. Bullis had 16 or over 12% of their class do so with schools including Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Princeton, and other ivies. Take a look for yourself.

Wait, I will go a step further and prove the PP completely off base. AHC had similar, if not better results last year. HC had one get into a top 20 (Michigan). AHC had one get into Michigan and one into Notre Dame. There was also a BC admit as well. Much better than HC lol. I think I actually know the poster who is bashing AHC. Sounds like the PP must have had a bad experience with AHC and moved her daughter to HC and has a bone to pick now. Bottom line, neither school's matriculations are that impressive. I don't know why the PP had to drag Bullis into the discussion.

Wow, you are really nasty. No wonder AHC has the reputation of having a culture of bullying. Moms like you breeding mean girls. You said HC has more wealth which contributes to them having better academics. Then in the next breath you say AHC is on the same level. You can’t have it both ways. You then complain a poster brought in Bullis (they did so to contradict your wealth argument) but you brought SR and Visi into the argument. You can’t keep track of your weak arguments and then get upset when others prove them wrong.

PP here. The reason I complained about bringing Bullis into the conversation is that they PP actually was not accurate in their statement. Bullis had very very impressive results last year as the links provided show. Clearly this person has no idea what they are talking about. I will say it again. HC is no better than AHC in terms of academics or college matriculations. They have a fancier campus and maybe better athletics, but that's where it ends. They might be better with neuro diverse students as well. But as for college outcomes, the two are identical.

Exactly, and this makes my opinion even more legit. I spent a lot of time reviewing all of the all girls schools in the area when we had my daughter apply, so I am quite familiar with the schools and what kinds of girls attend them.

How do people look at the college matriculations at these two schools and not see a difference? Whether it’s a result of wealth and being able to pay for tuition or not, there is a difference. I have never heard of a number of the schools AHC students have matriculated to, whereas HC students matriculate to more well known/popular schools. That’s just a fact.

Agree and I do not have a DD at either.

First, what actually constitutes a "well-known/popular" school? Do you have a designated list of these schools? Please share if you do.

The right way to approach comparing things is to use a more quantitive method. You don't see much representation at all among top 20 or top 25 schools in both schools. And again, I compare them to VISI and SR, which both have a much higher percentage of students matriculating to top 20 schools. This quantitative approach is really the only way to effectively evaluate and compare the schools. Your qualitative method is based strictly on feelings and opinion. I will go with the former.

Based on your metric calculation, for 2024, HC bests SR with 4 Top 20 placements. SR has only 3 top 20 placements.

And AHC has one and she’s committed for Lacrosse*

Umm...try using a larger sample size. You can't even begin to start evaluating 2024 with so few students represented so far. Let me know what you come up with when you look at 2023. Thanks.

And visi has 6 but really 5 as one of the ND is hooked.

Umm...you clearly don't understand anything about the use of data. Sample size and complete information mean everything. But you go ahead and live in your fantasy world.
