Smith’s acceptance rate RD was 19% this year. It makes sense that it would be higher than Davidson because the pool is smaller (the pool of folks who want an all women’s college is smaller as people self-select out). That does not mean Smith is a “worse” school. They are both great schools. |
Overall admit rate, including ED and RD, to Davidson in 2023 was approx. 14.5% (this is according to Davidson Admissions but has not yet been officially published). Smith's overall admit rate for 2023 was approximately 19%: https://www.smith.edu/news/record-breaking-2023-admission-season Relatively close! |
I could not agree more. Davidson wins every category unless DD is gay or socially awkward. Really am not bashing Smith, it is much better than many schools in many ways but not Davidson. |
Have you ever actually been to Smith? |
My numbers must be from two years ago rather than one year. My point is that Smith College has a generous ED admit rate, while Davidson did not reveal its ED admit rate for the same admissions cycle. |
| If she really wants to go to Smith, has met friends and visited and understands the culture...well perhaps she has her reasons... |
The topic is done, OP said she chose davidson. End of story. |
| Based on OP's comments, it seems the best decision was made (though there were no wrong ones). However, I'm certainly biased as a Davidson grad from the late 80s. I'm hoping my youngest daughter will join the OP's daughter there next year. Go 'Cats! |
