Sending kid to an English boarding school starting around age 10?

OMG--if you have a boy---do not do this. The sexual abuse by other older students is rampant.

Royalty and celebs that attended British boarding schools make awkward comments about this kind of stuff occurring as a matter of fact. It also happened at a famous English youth soccer academy where the boys live without their parents.

Princess Kate is dead set against sending George off to boarding school. It is a big battle. I am with her on this one!!

The only people I know who did this were a screwed up family. The parents divorced, sent the boys to boarding school in England, let the grandparents raise the daughter in the US. Distant relationships and their own kids are messed up. They were gotten rid of and ignored. They all went to good colleges and make money so if that's all that matters, they probably will do that. I think that was the most important thing to this family anyway.

If you don't particularly enjoy spending any time with your child and you aren't worried about whether they are abused while totally unable to turn to a loved one for help and you think your job is way more important than your kids then yes, this is good option!

Another choice would be to just put the kid up for adoption, how about that?

Make sure the kid brings a doll with matching clothes, and whatever you do, don’t leave the kid orphaned!

OP,
Did everyone around you die of cholera?

Prince William and Prince Harry started at 8… just crazy.

And yet Diana was always reported as being a model mom. BS.

I begged my parents t send me to boarding school when I was in junior high. Just like the Dana Girls, solving mysteries.

I dated a guy whose father was a diplomat from North Africa. He went to boarding school in New England, and was classmates with the Carly Simon/James Taylor kids.

The Royals don't even do this anymore. Please don't.

Are you just sending him for the sodomy? Or are there other perceived advantages?
