This is getting ridiculous

The problems with this years class are manifold. It's a huge group of students and after a 2/3 year break the internationals are also once again applying en masse. Grade inflation has become the norm. A 4.0 isn't what it used to be. Test Optional means that all those kids that used to score 1200-1400 and therefore wouldn't have bothered applying to T20s are now applying to T20s. For families that live in blue states, Covid restrictions were devastating to this generation of teenagers, limiting opportunities and access to the kinds of experiences and internships that used to be the norm for smart, ambitious kids. Yes, colleges have given some priority to URMs and first generation kids, but as always the real advantages continue to go to the wealthy, legacy Biffs and Buffys of the world. The end result is that it's really difficult for smart, suburban kids to distinguish themselves. On the upside, I think this generation of state flagship kids - particularly those in the honors programs - is going to be outstanding. If I were a hiring manager, that's where I'd recruit.

Yes, very demoralizing to kids have worked hard and been high achievers throughout school to see that the key factor in admissions is demographics.

Right there couldn’t possibly be someone as qualified or more qualified than your kid amongst the thousands and thousands that applied. Some dumb black kid or poor Hispanics most certainly took his spot.

Also we aren’t in the midst of one of the largest classes of college applicants ever that’s peaking over the next couple years and then will decrease. Nope it’s definitely “diversity” and someone less qualified took your perfect candidate kid’s spot. It’s also not that half the schools have kids with straight As and tons of activities and awards.

“Diversity” is the new white cope for I didn’t get what I thought I deserved.

Ironically as a hiring manager I am being pushed to look beyond T10 and even T30 schools for candidates. I hope these kids aren’t accumulating too much debt and really enjoy their four years …

A company I worked for discussed removing school names from the resumes to avoid bias and cronyism. I have hired at 3 companies and none of them emphasized t-10, 20 or what we schools. It may matter in a couple industries or slightly at entry level, but it is not nearly as important as folks on here think.

Yes, certainly admissions workers would not have understood the technical terms. White males and Asians really need to be strong in a sport nowadays otherwise they get passed over for lower stats of other ethnicities.

When multiple schools return the same decision, you have to wonder if that t was a strong as the OP is saying it was. Or did they aim too high, not realizing that thousands of top students are competing for a few hundred spots?

Aside from the nonzero chance this is a troll is stir up white fragility, if every school in the top 50 has told your kid something it’s not random anymore.

Actually, it's much much more competitive for white females. They are having the hardest time in admissions this year, and for the past few. After them, Asian females. Then Asian males, then white males.

You shouldn’t. If you want to be naive and think white people actually care about Asian enrollment just know that once they’ve finished using you to attack other minorities, the next step will be to talk about the overrepresented robots and strivers. There is always a reason why only white UMC kids are deserve of these spots.
