Some people care about principles. Paying off these people just encourages them. She has deep enough pockets to be able to care about justice. Not awarding some elderly half blind fool.

Yes, Hollywood is totally opposed to payoffs because of principles. lol. This is being choreographed and blasted to tabloids because the old bag is soaking up the attention and wants to play a victim. $300k is chump change to this filthy rich woman. She's exploiting this to generate attention, win or lose it's a cheap way to get her name everywhere and play a victim while being 20 or 25 years past her career prime.

my god. over react much?

I don't think so. She's presumably worth $100 million, lawyers are presumably $1k an hour and crisis pr doesn't get out of bed for less than six figures. And what's a private jet cost to and from whatever podunk town this this trial is at? She's probably into this for more than $300k, so she might as well have just cut the check -- unless of course it's a calculated decision by an aging grifter to lap up the attention and social media engagement.

That’s what he said. And the definition of a shakedown.

I don't know the details of any of this but did she or did she not run into an old guy on the mountain? I don't think that part is in dispute, so the other details are just trying to muddy the waters. I also don't think speculating about what someone or an insurance provider might settle for is some smoking gun. Reddit's insurance subreddit is full of victims and industry professionals answering this very question all day.

He and his ambulance chasing lawyer are gross. He’s obviously looking to pad his retirement. What else does he have to do all day?

She says he ran into her.

I think the judge reduced the max claim because when you go skiing, you're already acknowledging that you are partaking in a dangerous activity that causes injury. There's an element of contributory negligence by just showing up on a ski slope.

If it is true that she was downhill from the plaintiff, it's going to be a 10 minute verdict (particularly in PC where the jurors will understand the rules of skiing).

Is there any reason why she's there in-person? I thought you could just have an attorney argue on your behalf?

Correct. Earlier Pp admits doesn’t know any details but concluded old guy ran into GP.

You’ve seen a jury trial without the presence of the defendant?

She’s 109lbs soaking wet she didn’t cause damage by running into someone skiing.

What? You don't ski do you. When 100 lbs smashes into you full speed you could end up dead.
Stupid sow boarder girl ran into me from behind (It looked like she was there with snow boarder boyfriend and had no business being on a snow board), i went flying, skis flying, one leg one way, the other iwth a ski twisted. me totally bruised. You have no idea what you are talking about. I was under 110 lbs as well, and very hurt.

Many people have died in accidents with fast moving skiers and snowboarders. It’s my biggest fear in teaching my kids to love the sport.

You need to chill out and stop smearing some random old man. I know a handful of good, decent white collar people who have sued after auto accidents or their kids being harmed by health care providers. They are victims, not shakedown artists.

Did she or the victim take breathalyzers at the scene? Most rich people get plastered on the slopes and that's often how some seasoned skiers ends up crashing into someone.

His word against hers.

And the ski instructor’s word.
And he’s not helped by his friend/witness who can’t recall his deposition testimony.

+1. I remember when I first learned to ski and ALMOST ran into an elderly couple. They were so furious. I thought they were overreacting until I matured a little more and realized how terrifying a crash like that can be, especially for the elderly. You can literally die or it triggers a precipitous decline in mobility until you die if you merely fracture a key bone at that age.
