Not OP but my anxiety goes down at Costco. It’s so easy! I was in and out in 30 minutes last week. I’ve been shopping there for decades though so I know what I’m doing. I can see it being overwhelming for newbies. Weekend nights are easy, or early morning on weekends.
It’s definitely a “know thyself” kind of store. Are you really the kind of person that will eat 5 pounds of baby carrots? You need to be honest with yourself. We mostly buy the luxury good but there are some things we buy in bulk because we eat a lot (black beans, yogurt, mini tomatoes). And I like buying TP only once a year.
