UVA EA Stats

I'm a UVA alum but looking at these numbers I would be hard pressed to argue that the admitted student profile is much different based on this data. Agree that they are both great schools with very different vibes. If you are lucky enough to get in both, pick the one that feels best and you will be fine.

Can you show us some data to prove that W&M, or any other reputable college, has become LESS selective in recent years?
Because I seriously doubt it.

Well, maybe not easier, but until the 2010s William & Mary was a more difficult admit than UVA - especially for girls. Not anymore. It’s been reversed.

You can if you go to SCHEV and see the quality of student per GPA and test score of enrolled students last year across the 75th percentile, mean and 25th percentile. It all but two categories the enrolled UVA students are higher. But since you sound snarky I’m not going to do that work for you.

No skin in this game as my kid got into both but chose to attend OOS. So, I actually did what you said and cannot see an earth-shattering difference. Yes they are a bit higher, but it is not like a sea of a difference.

SAT (75/Median/25) - 1520-/1470/1400
ACT (75/Median/25) - 34/33/32
GPA (75/Median/25) - 4.53/4.40/4.24

W&M
SAT (75/Median/25) - 1520/1460/1375
ACT (75/Median/25) - 34/33/32
GPA (75/Median/25) - 4.51/4.33/4.15

UVA’s stats ARE higher in five out of the nine categories. A year ago it was seven out of 9 but that’s only because the reported numbers keep going up. As the number of quality applicants increase each year, and test optional continues (allows lower scoring students who would not submit get accepted and enrolled) the stats at all schools will continue to climb as you see here.

What I hear is: We cannot be equal! One has to be better and I will nitpick and blow up any differences in my favor to show you into your lowly place. I rank supreme!

Seems many Virginians are unable to take pride in the good universities we are lucky to have in this state. All of them.

THIS. We are really lucky here. All of these kids are going to be okay. Some people might think success is only found at 2-3 of these schools, but there are great things happening at all of these colleges.

There's no way they have 30,000 letters printed and mailed between Wednesday and today. Even if they did, there's certainly no way the USPS in its current state is more efficient than the online notification.

Thanks - but the letters are only for accepted students - so not 30,000 and just because they announced on Wednesday, doesn't mean they didn't already have their list earlier and had started printing and mailing.

Either way - mail came but USPS email never did come. But I had not real mail today so maybe that's why. Good luck to all!

My kid was accepted ED and received their letter in mid January so it does not come fast.
