+1. I feel lucky my kid is there. Nothing is perfect I guess, but honestly I have no complaints. Program is awesome. Blair as a school is well run. Only thing that has been hard is that bc it’s so big, the sports teams are kind of hard to get on… as opposed to smaller schools where a mediocre soccer player, eg, can make the team. |
What are the toughest Blair sports teams for freshmen to access? XC, soccer, tennis?? |
Soccer and tennis. XC is walk on. Track is a tryout, but if you are relatively in shape/a runner it’s not that hard. I am just comparing Blair to places like Kennedy and Einstein and Northwood etc, where if you want to be on the tennis team, you can! 😊 |
compare to BCC, wootton. not easy to get into those tennis teams. |
| What about swimming at Blair? |
Quite a good team. |
Cross country is an amazing team. strongly recommend. you can walk on but you have to have good runs to stay on! great coach. |
Is it difficult to make the team? |
Yes. 120 students tried out for 30 spots. My kid is a really good swimmer and didn’t make it. Maybe next year! |
Wow! Well that rules my kid out then! Swims year round but not fast. |
Not so hard at all --- here is this season (ends this weekend at State Champs) tryout standard at Blair Try Out Requirements: 100 Free - Boys 1:05 Girls 1:10 50 Breast/Fly - Everybody - :50 50 Back - Everybody :40 if you are a club swimmer -- it is not hard at all |
| What are those times? Those are the minimum times to try out? |
| Yard or meter? |
| Aren't all the teams difficult to get on? What about track? |
But only 30 out of 120 got in? My kid hasn’t swam 50s all season and times from last year are slower than that. |
