But is it worth pouring so much money into a QB that keeps getting hurt? Huntley has a lot of potential and the money could be spent to shore up other needs. |
There is a case to be made to franchise + trade LJ to move up in the draft. But after watching too much Huntley over the past 2 years, he is not the answer going forward. But even then, I think the club would be taking a short term step backwards. They do have a SB window, but I think its the next 2 seasons. Sometimes you gotta go all in |
I don't understand what is obnoxious or arrogant about Patrick Mahomes. He seems like a very low-key person generally and I've never seen him act arrogant or inappropriate? I've heard some things about his family (wife, brother, dad) that kind of make me role my eyes, but that's not him, and he's far from the first pro athlete to have some annoying family members getting press, that's really common. I, too, have family member who say and do obnoxious things at times. It's relatable. But Burrow has said a number of things in the press that I find eye roll inducing, including his comment about "the window is my entire career" regarding the Bengals winning a title (just very me-centric and lacking humility, especially from someone who has only been in the league a few years). I also found it silly when he made those comments about "better send those refunds" regarding the tickets the NFL had sold to the possible neutral site game between the Bills and KC had the Bills won (obviously tickets to a neutral site game might require more planning on the part of fans so it would make sense to open up ticket sales early -- it was not an insult to the Bengals and I'm sure the NFL was always prepared to refund those tickets without much effort). It just seems like Burrow is a big talker AND has a chip on his shoulder, even though he's just a talented but still very young QB with pretty limited experience. I think going to the SB in his second year gave him this idea that the Bengals are going to be perennial contenders, and that's going to be hard for him when his own contract is what is likely to limit their ability to put together great teams every year. I do think Burrow could learn from watching other QBs (including Patrick Mahomes!) in terms of how the keep their heads down a bit more, talk up their teammates, and focus on the game itself instead of extraneous BS like media coverage. He definitely rubs me the wrong way and it's not just because of his clothes (which yes, are dumb) it's because he behaves like he's an established elite QB and he is not. I find his personality quite grating. |
If you think he's a Super Bowl winning QB, that is. |
Well, yeah, he is a SB quality QB. He's won both the Heisman and an NFL MVP with essentially no supporting talent beyond Mark Andrews. Hell, Trent Dilfer, Mark Rypien, Brad Johnson, Doug Williams, etc. They are all "super bowl winning QBs" |

I saw Burrows warming up for the game tonight with his stupid stupid frosted tips and it reminded me of this thread from a couple years ago.
Anyway: yes he is very obnoxious. See i.e. the frosted tips. Also has any team collapsed quite as hard as the Bengals in recent memory? Superbowl in 2022 and AFC Championships game in 2023 and then last year finished in the basement and are starting this season 0-2. Ouch. |
I've said this since his rookie year. Look, is he a good QB? Yes. Does he do good things for his Ohio community? Also yes. But, his style, over-the-top jewelry, the frosted hair . . . . bro needs a stylist STAT. Also, Bengals collapse isn't on him. And, further, he was injured last year. |
| I mean, he’s currently being embarrassed by <checks notes> the Washington Redskins on national TV. |
His team was embarrassed yes. It was pathetic display by the Bengals. The defense got one stop all night. He personally did pretty well. Their offensive play calling is often confounding. His hair and style choices are questionable, but I understand the chip on his shoulder. He plays for the Bengals who have a history of screwing up every good thing that falls into their lap. |
| Neither team in the Bengals-Commanders match-up had a punt or a turnover. That’s the first time that has happened since 1940. That’s some pretty high-level football on both sides. |

Looks lot alike f people want to blame Kelce 's lackluster start on Taylor Swift which is silly. The reality is that Kelce is getting old and the Chiefs have younger players who can do outperform him so he's getting fewer touches especially in the red zone. And the Chiefs are winning. People just want to blame Taylor for things.
Meanwhile Joe Burrows's frosted tips are out there losing games for the Bengals week after week and you see no one even mentioning it. He should obviously unfrost those tips yet commentators fixate instead on the Bengals lack of a running game and poor play calling and porous defense. Why is everyone afraid to say what we all can see with our own eyes: Joe Burrows's bad hair choices are costing this team games and it's past time he addressed the issue. |

Now Johnny Unitas, there's a haircut you could set your watch to |
|
Once again Joe Burrows's frosted tips let the team down, causing an interception and distracting the placeholder during a pivotal moment in overtime. Yet another Bengals loss at their... strands.
The good news is they appear to be growing out pretty fast. Let's pray his barber suggests a buzz cut and we can put this embarrassing saga behind us before going 9-7 and losing a wildcard game. |
