The article said she had three previous “easy” pregnancies — as someone who enjoyed being pregnant, I could see someone choosing to do this. What happened to “my body, my choice?”

Pregnancy and birth is absolutely more dangerous than donating a kidney. And it is in fact illegal to pay for a kidney, so your analogy doesn't make sense.

That would be wrong. The death rate for kidney donors is 0.07%, not to mention the guaranteed permanent reduction in kidney function. The US maternal death rate is 0.02%.

Plus, people here are just flatly saying “surrogacy should be illegal.”

It is interesting that you didn’t answer as to why choice and bodily autonomy shouldn’t apply here. Choice is good thing if you want to terminate a fetus, but not if you want to carry one to term?

The surrogate would have been pregnant in 2010 then, since the article said the baby was born in March 2011. So all of these pregnancies took place quite some time ago so probably not newer stuff like Hilaria, Tyra, Paris etc. Also the fact that she lives in PA means that she’s in all likelihood a surrogate for celebs based in NYC as opposed to LA. That’s a smaller pool.

However, I do think this is the floodgates opening on other celebs who lie about carrying babies, for vanities sake. (to keep their acting careers going, etc. not Bc of health reasons).

after I had my child, I almost died. to carry another baby could've been fatal. if I had the $$, I absolutely would've done surrogacy. plus keep my milk going from actual pregnancy (like a faker I know).
