Are you braindead? Sure the problem is at Kennedy it always has been but nobody cared. You only care because it kill white rich kids TOO. Do you understand the inclusive use of the word TOO. Really worse than crack? or is it just hitting closer to home? |
FWIW I've always believed these problems were even worse at the wealthy schools. Everyone says they have a lot of drugs at the W's. |
Your argument makes zero sense. No one cares about the problem affecting POC kids, but MCPS literally had an emergency press conference in response to a POC kid overdosing who attended a majority POC school. Again: Drug use has existed among teenagers for years. Crack (which btw was not super prevalent in the last two decades among MCPS students) was highly addictive in 70s and 80s, but the death rate of crack is not on par with fentanyl, and again, the use of fentanyl among YOUTH is alarming. It's one thing to turn a blind eye to POC kids using weed, because they weren't dropping dead like flies from it. But these percocets/fentanyl are completely different. It's a game changer. As I said, your lack of awareness and education on the topic is glaring and you just want to act like people only care about white kids in MCPS and that's not true. I absolutely agree and acknowledge that historically and even today, majority-white schools in Bethesda/Potomac do get more resources and more attention than majority-minority schools in East County MoCo, but on this drug issue, EVERYONE is impacted throughout MCPS and EVERYONE is alarmed. Instead of trying to win points by shitting on white kids who might be struggling with substance abuse, think about how you can help protect and defend all kids throughout MCPS from the chaos and trauma of illegal substances. Do better. |
| It so bad society is in freefall. The sky is falling! What shall we do?!?! |
Get back to us when wine has fentanyl in it. |

Another overdose at Kennedy High School again. In the girls' bathroom.
The high school bathroom situation is untenable and has been. How many of these incidents will it take for MCPS to respond from a security perspective? This week alone, you have the B-CC incident and now this. |
They don't want to deal with the backlash from parents about having security. |
Other school districts are using an ehallpass system, which tracks which kids are leaving the classroom to use the bathroom and when they are returning. It has reportedly had a strong impact on cutting down behavioral issues and class skipping: https://www.lcps.org/Page/227682 https://countychronicle.org/1674/news/new-e-hallpass-system-implemented-cuts-down-on-students-ditching-class/ If neighboring Loudoun County is doing this, why isn't MCPS? |
| My child went from MCPS HS to a private one. She says the drug issues are pretty similar in both... |
MCPS seems to get more press for their issues, as private schools get to keep their mess private. |
Or we could better regulate things like Adderal and Opiods and the amount given out and when. Or we could have better mental health systems in our country. Or we could improve wages so people actually have time to spend with family and outside. We need to stop making weed the issue and address the things that are absolutely contributing to these problems. |

Link to this? Fwiw the poor child that died recently was found at home on the weekend, not at the high school. |
No news reports have picked up on it, cause sadly, bad news from Kennedy doesn't get as much press as the W schools, but the principal sent a letter out. Would attach it here but board doesn't allow for attachments. |
You're right, Ashleigh did die at home, but her mother specifically complained about her daughter using in the school bathrooms at Kennedy and security and admin doing nothing to prevent her from doing so. |
