Yep. Exactly. All the problems with kids today is solely because of MCPS. They just aren’t raising our kids right. And they expect the parents to parent their own kids?!? The nerve of MCPS. |
Nice try, troll. I'm a MCPS parent and a HS teacher outside of MCPS, but comparable demographics. Hold the disctrict, yourself and your child accountable. Period. |

Are you kidding me? Parents are responsible for their kids and what happens in the home and outside of the school. MCPS is responsible for what happens INSIDE the school. They literally have a DUTY OF CARE for these minors. The woman who lost her child to an overdose, literally complained that no one, not law enforcement, not MCPS school officials or the healthcare system helped her when her daughter got hooked on drugs. She complained that the school knew her daughter was using drugs at the school in the bathroom and DID NOTHING ABOUT IT. Parents are not IN the school buildings with the kids. MCPS is literally responsible for student behavior inside the school buildings. What the hell are you talking about? |
Seriously. The laffy taffy logic being applied to absolve MCPS of liability and accountability here is astounding. |
This is just wrong. We’re not talking about kids smoking joints like in the 60s and 70s and when we were teens. We’re talking about high-concentration, often adulterated THC carts that are very easy to hide. Vaping is dangerous. Sorry to burst your bubble, PP. As for fentanyl, ask any parent whose kid has died of an overdose. You probably know one. Everyone does now. |
What is MCPS supposed to do? The parent should have gotten them treatment. The county offers free treatment. |
There have always been serious issues with drugs and alcohol and it changes each decade or so. What do you want MCPS to do? They aren't allowed to search the kids stuff upon entry? |
And, yet, where are they getting the money to buy it? Why are the parents ok with it and not monitoring it? |
This. Legalizing pot was an incredibly bad idea. It is SO bad at our MCPS high school. And the other drug use has definitely gotten/will get even worse. |
| Just hearing that there was potential an overdose at BCC? Not sure, but concerning images are being passed around on social media. |
it was 2 intoxicated students... So drunk but not an overdose. |
You are wrong. The amount of people trying to get into recovery is off the charts, the once a week programs are full, the PHP programs are full, the counselors say they have never had so many people inquiring about treatment. I am sure you are one of the "not my kid" group. |
+1 A boy at my son's college died from fentanyl in a (he thought) Adderall pill he'd bought as a study aid. You need to let your kids know how dangerous it is to take any pill they didn't directly get from a pharmacy. |
Got it. Well, MCPS has its hands full! |
