- you do not deny that you post every damn one of these mass shootings here on DCUM, as if people here do not see it plastered all over every webpage and the WaPo for days.

What makes YOU so triggered / motivated?

Do you think there’s only one poster other than you in all of DCUM? What are you, some special kind of simpleton?

More of your childish insults, I see.

Are you just sock-puppeting? (probably).

But whatevs.

You do you, Crazy gun control lady.

Whatever, gun nutter.

Agree to disagree, crazy gun control lady.

DP. I am not the OP but I think I hurt your feelings on one of the other gun threads. Please don’t take out your frustration on other people just because you can’t come up with relevant responses.

Hi. I’m the person you are responding to here. But I’m fairly certain I have not responded to gun control threads recently.

If I matters, I never ever post in Politics.

I have noticed at least 2 other people on DCUMAD who are staunchly pro-2A, and they do respond.

But they shouldn’t get their feelings hurt by something someone out there said on an anonymous forum.

Anyway, we need strict gun laws, licenses, background checks...etc. Getting rid of military style assault weapons would also be a step in the right direction.

Not everybody can just move. You sound privileged.

Good luck removing those guns. If the anti gun people believe so strongly of disarming the entire populace they should create a volunteer group and do it. You know, be the change you wish to see in the world. (The police will not confiscate weapons in a mass scale and neither will the military.) So you and your ilk should do it.

It seems like those of us who don’t want to be shot by a deranged moron have to move our bargaining anchor.

I no longer care about your need to hunt, etc. No guns, anywhere, for anyone. Can you imagine if our police were like the ones in the UK and DIDN’T walk around with guns? It would be like a totally different country. That’s my aim.

Then go remove those guns yourself.

By your logic women and blacks would not have the right to vote.

Gonna party like it’s 1799!

Sad, but this sums it up. We have gun crisis and a mental health crisis.

We can and should bring back mental institutions.

There is obviously a huge need for them.

Even if we had institutions, very few of these shooters would end up in them BEFORE they decided to shoot people. Severely mentally I’ll people are mostly NOT violent.

Also, really mentally ill people, the vast majority of them at least, don't know that they are insane. They believe that the way they think is normal and that everyone else has a problem. So they don't get treatment until a judge tells them they have to... which means they've lost the ability to conduct themselves in a socially acceptable way, i.e. popped off in public, or until an employer tells them to get help or else.

People who voluntarily commit themselves or seek out mental health treatments aren't the problem. It's the silently, simmering, binging on you-tube video and incel sites, all alone in their mama's basements that you need to look out for.

Returning to actual substantive news, the shooter targeted specific victims, had a manifesto complaining about his job, and was prohibited from possessing either firearms or ammunition.

Wrong. Revolvers existed during this time period.

Can someone then explain to me like I’m a fifth grader, how more gun laws would have prevented this senseless tragedy?

They want the "gun laws" to be zero guns, period. That will never happen, there will just be a black market of illegal guns.

The Everly Brothers had a song called “Dream, Dream, Dream.” That’s about where you are. The idea that firearms are only for hunting is silly. There are millions of defensive uses of firearms a year. And by the way, the British have armed police. They are more than willing to use their guns too, as when they shot a man in the back of the head while holding him face down on the floor of a bus.

Nope, it’s not a dream, it’s a goal. I don’t care about your desire for guns for hunting, but I care even LESS about this BS about “defensive” use of firearms.

Keep going, there are more and more people coming to my position every day. The children who had to do gun drills in school don’t want guns anywhere near them. The future does not belong to mindless death and stupidity. The future is ours.

Unreasoning fear of inanimate objects and fanciful notions that getting rid of them can magically change the human heart are symptoms of a profound mental disorder.

Well, then their “human heart” can use a knife to attempt their next mass killing, which won’t allow them to stand at a safe distance and mow people down.
