Why do people like Florida?

I can't imagine ever wanting to live in a place again with winter. Nice to visit for a few days. But never having to deal with ice, snow, coats, gloves, etc. Heaven

To each their own.

I'll take a glistening coat of snow and getting cozy by the fire and hot cocoa, and appreciating the spring and summer warmth when it arrives, then getting out in the fall colored leaves and pumpkin patches.
You can have the hurricanes.

It's constantly got hurricanes which they are never prepared for, you'd think after so many hurricanes they'd put together a response plan or infrastructure that works, the summers are horrible and humid, there's all kinds of crazy people and crazy politics, there's a lot of crime, the schools are terrible, and now it's getting more expensive. Oh, and the traffic.

But, and this is an important point, YOU and people like YOU are not there, worth any and all disasters not to have to be around YOU.

... that's what you're getting in DC? A "glistening coat of snow" then "summer warmth" that you'd write odes to?

And lol no we don't have constant hurricanes. There's a hurricane season. It's no fun - but you get through it, then you get the rest of the year to enjoy beautiful weather, nature, and all the rest of it.

I will give you that the politics are dismal. But - ya know. You had Trump living in your city for four years. Not like that's great shakes. Plus no statehood - if you're in DC. Maybe you're in VA where Youngkin is trying to ban abortion and punish trans kids.

We all deal with what we deal with.

Maryland. We have Jamie Raskin. Florida has Matt Gaetz. What an embarrassment.

Well touche then. Raskin is pretty good. Gaetz doesn't represent the whole state, though, I hope you know? We had Crist representing us till he decided to lose the governorship again (ugh, yeah, the politics are terrible). But - in our area we have a lesbian mayor who's great in the city to the north, and our first Black mayor in our city - both very progressive. So, at least locally it's pretty good,

But yeah, Raskin v Gaetz you win. However Gaetz is never around where I live. Totally different part of the state.

Just as all of the DMV is not covered in rats and homeless tent cities, Florida is not 1 single place. Watercolor, Sarasota, Gainesville, Miami, Anna Maria Island. Logan Circle, Annandale, Pimmit Hills, Burke. All very different places.

And yet, so many of the very people bashing continue to vacation and escape to various parts of Florida for holiday breaks year after year....

^ And I don't like DC either. This isn't DC vs. FL.

Independent of the other states, FL is a sh1thole.
