This isn’t accurate. If you have an unused drain, the P trap might dry out and then sewer gas can come through. It doesn’t build up in the pipes.

I do this in the spring for spring cleaning. I just use Swiffer wet. I also wash all the doors, frames, baseboards and windows. It’s a whole weekend ordeal.
