My father got into some unnamed trouble with party elites and as a result, I was "given" to the son of a party higher-up as a fake bride. The arrangement was that after faking our wedding, we would emigrate to the United States, shake hands and go our separate ways. I was looking forward to living a normal American life. Sadly, that was not my destiny. Party insiders insisted my father's debt had not yet been paid in full. I had to marry a mogul to infiltrate the upper class; otherwise my parents' milking cow would be killed and my younger brother would be forced to work in the factory for the rest of his life instead of attending ballet school, which was his dream. I adored my brother and would do anything for him. Absolutely anything.

I've had no contact with my family ever since. It's like they never even existed. But I was given a complete makeover -- looks, life story and all. I went from being an unattractive schlub to a former model and olympic athlete from one day to the next. I married the disgusting mogul. Had three kids, then got divorced. Eh, not bad. I can't complain.

Wait... did you recently... fall down the stairs?

Biggest "rags to riches" story I've ever personally witnessed.

Am I supposed to know who the Lerners are?

If you live in the DC area, yes

I don’t know if this counts, but I didn’t come from much and I’m in an on again off again relationship with a billionaire playboy. I like him enough but he’s just… missing something, you know? There are no butterflies for me with him. You see, I’m a little bit of an adrenaline junkie and I rob high rises in my spare time. Sometimes I cross paths with a vigilante detective who really does it for me, you know? He’s my true love, I just don’t know his real identity.

I caught it! The Appletini was a brilliant touch and brought your story into current times. The Little People could have been brought into the story without it being a freaky sexy thing.

So over the bridge from Flushing to the Sheffields' door, I was there to sell makeup but Father saw more. I had style, I had flair, I was there!

LOL Best in thread.

I was working as an elementary school librarian in a small West Texas town when I was introduced to a man at a backyard barbecue. He had gone to college in New England where his family was from, but he was strangely obsessed with Texas. As we didn’t have many former male cheerleaders in West Texas, I was very intrigued by him. He turned out to be a raging alcoholic, but I helped him get sober and a government job, even though he didn’t really need it. We were happy for a while, but then he made us move back to the East Cost, where he picked a lot of fights that cost a lot of money. We are retired now and try to keep a low profile, splitting our time between town and country.

I came from a very low-income family in Arkansas. My brother is kind of a mess, but I met a girl in the library and knew she was the one. We graduated Yale Law School together and supported each other's ambitions, and had a beautiful daughter. I haven't always made the best choices, but she stood by me and I have been true to her in my fashion I supported her career after retiring from mine. We have been together almost 50 years!

Yeah, but she's not old money.

Haha love it. Watch out cause your man is usually not home at night and might come home with lots of bruises!

I was living in Queens and dating an obnoxious guy (whose dad owned a popular hair care product). I wasn't happy though and met a poor fella who was from Africa and was working at my dad's fast food joint. He was poor but hard working. My father didn't initially approve of me dating him because he thought he was too poor. But it turned out he was a prince in his African country! I was angry that he wasn't truthful (and turns out his parents had set him up for an arranged marriage back home). I surprised him in the end and we got married after all!

Love it!

I was studying to become a nun but didn’t really fit in so the nunnery sent me to be a nanny for a gorgeous naval officer who was a widower with a bunch of wild kids. I tamed them all and he fell head over heals for me and the rest is history.
